Ideal for learning English

This book is well enough for what it is except many of the expressions are not geared for the American student. They use Mum instead of Mom, cheeky instead of sarcastic, pop out as in leave for a little while etc. Otherwise fine

Great stories but NO PAGE NUMBERS!!!! What happened??? Big OOOOPS!!

Maybe good stories, but set in Britain and not useful for second language students studying the The USA

Stories are lovely. The main problem with the book is that the pages aren't numbered. So I refer to the story we are reading as Chsptwr 3

I was hoping these would be good tools for teaching my students but found the cultural differences from the UK to the US are enough where many stories are not worth it. Furthermore, a strange old-fashioned style moralistic tone is in most of the stories, clouding this as a reading exercise for adult learners and adding more explanation than necessary. There is a dearth of good, short interesting-to-adults stories for ESL learners. A further annoyance, many of the stories start on the right hand page and finish on the next (left) page, making efficiently photocopying them for a class to read from a frustrating endeavor. Because this is a self-published book, there are a few mistakes too.

A very good and useful book for reading comprehension.

Queste storie breve sono molto interessanti. Questo libro mi è stato un grande aiuto, especialmente nei riassunti e l'analisi del testo, e nel fare gli esercizi. Sono rimasta molto soddisfatta.

Ce livre est un cadeau fait à un très bon élève de 4ème. Les histoires sont très courtes, incluent quelques questions à la fin pour s'assurer de la bonne compréhension. Je le recommande pour les jeunes qui veulent commencer à lire du vrai anglais sans se lancer dans des romans trop longs.
