exactly what I remember from the Army, but black instead of green
I have motorcycle gloves that are essentially armored leather shells that I use for many purposes (not just when riding), and used (moderately priced, not cheap) synthetic silk inserts, but they wore out quickly and weren't quite as warm as I wanted. I decided to try replacing them with wool inserts, and found these. Other than the fact they're black instead of OD green, they are in every way exactly what I recall being issued in the Army. The scratchy feeling of the wool is quickly forgotten after donning the gloves with inserts, they fit well in my gloves because of the way the wool compresses, they keep me warm much better than the synthetic silk inserts, and they aren't overly warm on those days where the temperature is borderline. They seem very sturdy and well constructed so far. They're exactly what I needed, and dirt cheap compared to alternatives that aren't even a tiny fraction of the practical utility these wool inserts provide.

Fits like a glove:-)
This was exactly what I had expected and they should last for years.

Warm
I like these. They are simple, warm, and affordable. I've had several pairs now. I wear them all the time in the Pennsylvania winter. They are even my preferred hunting gloves. They are a bit rough and scratchy at first but that quickly fades. Eventually they develop holes like any other piece of clothing but they'll make it a whole season of regular use. So for the price, I find that acceptable.

Excellent Winter Glove
If, like me, you prefer a knitted glove, you can hardly do better than these gloves, designed for the military in frosty winter. They are rather heavy and almost windproof. There is nothing decorative about them; they are utilitarian, designed for everyday use. We've not yet had really cold weather (below 20 degrees F), and I may have to switch when it arrives. But I have real confidence that these will stand up well. Note that the gloves are not distinguished right and left; they're interchangeable.

Nothing Fancy - It Just Works For Me
I lose gloves - constantly. It's my thing. Just when I finally find a pair of gloves that I like, I lose one shortly afterwards. I'm tired of spending big money on name brands. There's not a lot of upside things to be said about these gloves. They're thin, but comfy. They are good driving gloves. They're not waterproof, so they aren't so great for shoveling snow or even just walking in weather. I haven't tried this, but I imagine if you buy a large set of waterproof mittens to wear over these gloves, you would have a great combo. What I love about them is that they're military issue. There's no left or right hand glove. You get a pair, but every glove is the same. As a result, I bought several sets and now I have all of the replacement gloves I will need for a LONG time to come!
