Easy to use
I let it set in various silicone molds I had around and made it much easier to store some wrapped tightly in separate portions to ensure fresher food for the babies.

Silkworms love it
I've been using this chow since I pulled my first batch of eggs for the summer out of the fridge, and the silkworms have been eating up. It has made enough to get most of the 170 silkworms through to the point that they're about to start making their cocoons (the ones I didn't feed off to my chameleon or leopard gecko). I probably still have about 110 or so worms left, and I'm just now starting to run low. I'm ordering more to finish these worms off to cocoon, and plan on hatching another batch of eggs soon to start the process all over again. Quality product. 👍💯

Great replacement
I got some silkworms as a gift to show my preschoolers but unfortunately I don't know where to get mulberry leaves so I bought this as a replacement. It worked wonderfully and the silkworms have gotten bigger. The smell of the product when I cooked it mostly smelled like real green tea leaves so it didn't bother me so much. I reused our ladybug land so the kids could see the worms much better.

How I made it for the first time in a cup
For the mathematically challenged, like myself, 8 oz is 1 cup. You're buying 1 cup of powder.First I used a zip tie to attach plastic mesh to the bottom cup and used a clip to hold the ends together so there was space between the cup walls and mesh while it dried. I'm dumb and forgot to block the holes in cup with hot glue or something and it made a mess. 🤦🏻♀️ don't be like me. If you are like me, tape some paper towel over the holes.Ratio of 1/4 cup powder to 1 cup boiling water and a drizzle of agave (I didn't have any honey), mixed with one of those electric coffee mixer wand thingies. I mixed for about 2 minutes when it started to thicken and had no clumps. I microwaved it for 30 seconds, mixed again just to break up the hardening top layer and poured it into the cup and stuck it in the fridge.I've never done this before. It's still in the fridge but I came to share what I did because I didn't see any "how to make" this in a cup. The package says to mix the ENTIRE package with 3 cups hot water and microwave. I didn't need that much made so I calculated 8oz to 3 cups. That's 1 cup powder to 3 cups water. So! 1/4 cup to 3/4 cups water, however, I rounded up to 1 cup because I'm lazy. Seems fine and I think any less would have hardened too fast for it to dissolve and cook.... Like oatmeal. Hope that helps someone. Good luck!

Decent Food for Hornworms
I bought this for some hornworms that my tarantula decided she didn’t want to eat. Firstly hornworms go through a ridiculous amount of food. I felt the mixing of this was pretty easy but the smell is pretty gross (this is likely just personal preference). Once I finished mixing it up, I put it in the fridge for later use. I cut pieces to give to the hornworms and they didn’t seem too excited about it. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m not sure if my hornworms are bougie or what. They did end up eating it but not with gusto.

It saved the lives of my silkworms!
The food saved the lives of my silkworms who hatched before leaves came out on the trees. I cooked it all up at once and put it in ice cube trays, froze it, then emptied the trays into a plastic bag. It kept well in the freezer and made it easieer to grate. My silkworms ate it because it was the only food they had, but they grew slowly until I switched to leaves. Once they tasted leaves, they didn't want to go back to the food. It was good to have the food available as an alternative to leaves.

Definite learning curve, but ultimately successful
Preparation is easy. Only con is having to use a mixer, and even then just because of the potential for mess. I went through 4 bags of this with 250 worms and never had a problem. Grating is not easy if it warms up even a little, which can make the process kind of gross, but you get over it pretty quick. With the bigger worms, I just started cutting up chunks of it and they didn't mind at all. Be careful not to grate too much on the little ones. I accidentally suffocated some of mine.
