Inspiring and Illuminating
one of the more helpful books written about meditation, as it is intimate sharing by the author of her own personal journey this way. I esp. enjoy reading about the development of her following her body wisdom, Sage in this. I also like her approach, reason for meditating. To know self, become aware of what is going on inside us with the helpful guidance, lantern of the Sage. This has inspired me to develop my own relationship with Sage and allow it to lead me in my own meditation practice. My experiences are different than hers. She shares more the art of meditating, does give basic tips, and a few technics but by far the best guidance in it is to let a source of Wisdom guide you. Relax, turn awareness inside and prepare to be led by Wise Helper. all that is really needed.

Of little use
Carol Anthony originally wrote some interesting books on the I Ching. This is not one of them. In an earlier book she describes a new form of meditation that she discovered. Its actually the standard technique of guided visualisation. This book is simply a record of those visualisations. As such it pointless. It doesn't help an individual to use the technique, and the only value of the actual "meditations" are to Anthony herself. As she has her own publishing house I expect we shall see even more I Ching books of dubious value.

Provides a personal and rich background to working with the I Ching
The book is a sequence of meditations, dreams and reflections coming out of a long experience of working with the I Ching. Each section is one to two pages, is dated in time, and illuminates a particular theme the author was working with at the time. The short episodes are often analogies which clearly shines light, sometimes in surprising ways, on the particular theme. Many times one can get a feeling for the struggle that has been there in the authors learning process, and the book is more or less filled with the recipes and the fruits of that learning. This mix of personal, experiential and universal, presented in a low profile way, made it a beautiful reading experience to me. I'm sure I will come back to it in years to come.
