It's solid.
It works great. It's big enough and heavy enough that you don't worry about the mic tipping it over. Works well with our mic and wireless transmitter.

Mic base stand
Worked like a charm for a lectern mic , instead of using a desk stand

Good solid mic base for gooseneck mic. Easy to modify if needed.
Well made, solid base for gooseneck mics with built in XLR connectors. Many people have questions about the switch. The switch is used to short out the tip and ring conductors, basically silencing the mic. It has a capacitor and resistor in line with it to help reduce pops.I did not want the switch so it was easy to cut one of the wires (tape it up to prevent shorts), so then the switch no longer functions. If I keep it that way I may remove the switch altogether and cover the hole. Also, the female XLR on the top has a unique locking feature. Instead of just relying on the push in lock to release the mic, you must screw the ring slightly with moves down to press on the locking pin.In other words, you can lock the gooseneck xlr in place by unscrew the ring so it moves up and will prevent the mic from being removed by accident.

Surprisingly worth the money. Rock solid and well made
If you're like me, you would have opted for any other cheaper base to get the job done but there isn't much of a section out there. The first thing I thought to myself when I unpacked the "LyxPro XBM-8 Microphone Desktop Base" is "Yep, this is definitely a $40 base." It has a good heft to it and everything about it says quality. I no longer regret spending $40 on a mic base.

Cannot adjust base - no swivel
Great small base mic holder and hook-up combined. Clean fit and looks good. Wish that you could turn the base around for adjusting angle of mic better.

Works for dynamic (unpowered) microphones, not for cardioid (powered) mics.
Going to have to send this back. On my phantom powered microphone, the switch started with a bit of bleed through when switched off. After a few hours of work, the on/off switch stopped working all together. That seems odd for this kind of stand, which will mostly be used with powered microphones. Looking on the manufacturer's site, I don't see this product listed there. I'm guessing it is discontinued because it doesn't work. There are many reviews here mentioning the same problem, but not identifying that it is a power issue. To be clear, I can't confirm that's the cause... but that is what I believe.

Heavy, well made, and the switch is silent
Doesn't slip around, even on a sloped lectern. The box says the switch is a "magnetic reed switch" which means the contacts are sealed against dirt or oxydation. The switch makes NO audible click, at least not at moderate sound level. We have two and they have been perfect. One on a lectern and one on a piano.

MIC BLEED THROUGH AFTER ONE MONTH
When I received the LyxPro XBM-8 it appears to be well-constructed, heavy and excellent non-slip material on the bottom. The mic I am using requires phantom power and initially, the switch was very quiet and did not pop when switching the mic on and off. After a month I started noticing crosstalk (or bleed-through) when switched off. Then rapidly, I started getting popping noises no matter the position of the switch. Now, it's like the switch doesn't work at all. Disappointed.
