No joke
Great knife. Love it for my nonstick baking pans. Don't let this fool you! It is sharp

This reminds me of the one my mom had when I was a kid.
This works well for cutting lettuce. It leaves a clean edge on the lettuce and prevents rust from forming as quickly on the lettuce. The knife is durable yet flexible enough to cut a tougher head of lettuce. I have not tried it on cabbage, but have on more solid heads of iceberg lettuce and romaine. I do look for fuller lettuce heads at the grocery store and this cuts through them with ease. It washes easily with a run under the faucet and wipes dry quickly. The handle fits nicely in my hand and when dry doesn't slip. I've been looking for a plastic lettuce cutter, and this works well. My mom had an old Tupperware one when I was a kid, and I used that one just as often. She didn't use it, and it went on to another home via a garage sale.

Adequate for cutting lettuce and teaching kids to use knives
Good for lettuce, but I can’t see too many other applications. I don’t know how well it handles dishwashers though.

Oddly awesome
I never really bought into the "tear your lettuce and don't cut it" stuff I was told growing up but I wanted to do an actual test myself so I bought this knife which claimed to do the "tearing" part without the tearing. I took 3 32oz Mason Jars, the first one I filled with lettuce that I cut up with a typical straight edged steel knife. The second I used the "tear with my hand" method. The third one I used this knife to cut it up. Then I used a vacuum sealer to close up the Mason Jars and stuck them into the fridge and watched (Not constantly but checked in on it every day). So, what did I find out? I found out that the lettuce in general lasted WAY longer than any bag or tupperware storage ever did. Next I noticed the jar with the steel cut lettuce starting browning at the edges after day 2. The hand torn and lettuce knife cut ones didn't start browning until day 12! The exactly when was indecipherable between the two so I'm sticking with 12 days for both. So, 6 times as long which is awesome. So you can either tear it all up with your hands in uneven awkwardness, or use this plastic knife and cut-tear it up into nicer uniform pieces and save time. For me, I'll use this knife now. For a couple bucks, I love it. Just get one if you eat salad and be happy.

This knife is perfectly described and cuts romaine well. Great value for the money.

Slightly Flimsy
This was difficult to cut lettuce due to it being flimsy, but I will use for cutting brownies and hope it works for that. UPDATE: Cut Brownies perfectly! Would buy again just for that!

Great lettuce knife! It's a must have!
Terrific lettuce knife! When I realized that lettuce turned brown if it was cut with a metal knife, someone told me to get a sturdy plastic lettuce knife!! Yay, no more brown edges when I cut lettuce! Great invention! Try it yourself! You'll never cut lettuce with a metal knife again!
