Used this a few times now. Small as it is, it has no trouble polishing the edge of even my larger hunting knife with a 6 inch blade. On my pocket knife it's the perfect size.

Extra fine is a good descriptor. After a few swipes across the surface of this tool, I could tell it was very fine grit. In retrospect, I should have gotten fine (not extra fine) because it would be more satisfactory for my purposes -- a few swipes to clean up an already sharp blade on the trail. Plus, the grit does start to wear down after use. It gets less abrasive as you use it. In a way, that's a good thing. I particularly like the sound of that on a medium grit sharpener, but on an extra fine grit sharpener... well, it's not the sharpener's fault. It is what it says it is and it does what it says it does.Observations:- I read that part of the sharpener is not usable due to how it comes out of the case... a quarter inch or so remains covered in enough plastic that it's not usable. My solution... use it at close to a 90 degree angle. I stand the case straight up at a 90 degree angle to the table or surface I am sharpening on. This leaves the sharpener resting with one end slightly raised in the case (a half inch or so) and the other end rests on the table at about a 103 or so degree angle... in short, it's a darn good sharpening angle for a small pocket knife (my Opinels) and it utilizes nearly 100 percent of the sharpener by exposing that last half inch or so. To use, hold the blade parallel to the table and swipe into sharpener. Then turn and do the same on the other side. I swipe toward the case (see the pic). Works great.- Keychain makes a good way to attach it to loops on my backpack. Plus it fits anywhere. Very small, very light. Weighs 29 grams.- It's really not made for knives with longer blades. Yes, it will work... just like a butter knife will work to remove a flat head screw, all things working correctly. But it's not "right" for the job. What it's good for is working edges on hunting knives or utility knives in your hunting pack or backpack. It's for the trail, not the home.- Extra Fine is smooth after 10-20 minutes of sharpening time. It does have micro-fine grit and it does work. But if you're trying to get a dull axe sharp, you'd better go with a coarser grit and be prepared to work for a long time because it's really "right" for blades less than three inches.

fantastic for the occasional quick hone on the go. Not designed to be your primary sharpener, but very handy for a touch up on the blade now and again. Fine quality, seems very durable and well made. Plastic housing, but sturdy and overall very useful. Sharpens the blades very well.

It’s fine for knocking a burr off a blade for a quick tune up, but it’s too coarse to put a fine edge on a blade. I bought the extra fine, green model, and it’s not what I would consider to be “extra fine”. You could probably call it “fine” but maybe even “medium”.

Package originally arrived broken open with no item inside, presumably it was damaged and lost during shipment. I used Amazon's automated system to report the loss, and I was shipped a replacement without question. Big ups to Amazon/seller for prompt action.Item works as advertised. It is VERY fine grit, I use it to touch up the ends of my HSS lathe bits. Don't use if you need to do some major honing/reshaping.

good balance of size and effectiveness. it is on the small size when it comes to trying to use it but it's a very good size for stashing all over the place. can leave one in the car, in the desk at work, hanging on a hook by the back door. and it sharpens things. wish it were cheaper but i think i write that in all my reviews

Awesome sharpener, works great for the price.

Bought this thinking it had the groove to sharpen hooks. It does not.Still a great little stone.
