Lots of tunes from years past, still fun to listen to after all this time. Classic Lionel Richie in his prime.

I love this CD and I have hunted everywhere for it. There are songs on here that are very special to me.

Had a couple of skips.

Wasn’t sure if I should get but the quality was great and all the songs are great to just relax and enjoy.

Mr LIONEL RICHIE is one of the greatest songwriters, composers and singers of this generation. his works seems to transcend time, race, culture and genre. He is unlike most other R&B artists who sings mostly "up-your-skirt" songs, his songs encompasses the total life experience and the total relationship,they make complete sense and all can easily relate to them at one point or another in their lives. His composing skills is indeed superb, each song on his albums is so meticulously crafted, which makes each such an immense pleasure to listen to. This is what sets Mr LIONEL RICHIE apart, he is in a class by himself. He was with the COMMODORES but in the short run he was just too great to be a part of any group. LIONEL is indeed TALENT ITSELF!!!. No wonder so much of today's greats lean on him for support.All his records are indeed top-notch but the "CAN'T SLOW DOWN" album is certainly his greatest effort and one of R&B'S best of the 1980's, along with MICHAEL JACKSON'S "THRILLER" and PRINCE'S "PURPLE RAIN"!!!.Every single song on this masterpiece is so golden, from the pulsing title tract "CAN'T SLOW DOWN" to the lively/carefree "ALL NIGHT LONG", then comes the super Ballad "PENNY LOVER", this is indeed a timeless tract, so pleading, so tender. Next comes the country and western laced "STUCK ON YOU", an amazing song here. To me, the most impacting song on this set is the gloomy yet hopeful "LOVE WILL FIND A WAY",this song has and will always be my support system, the message is so real. Now follows the expressive ballad, "THE ONLY ONE", another splendid cut."RUNNING WITH THE NIGHT" is a lively party story, you just listen and imagine. What a way to icing a well baked cake!!, this amazing project concludes with the timeless classic simply titled "HELLO", is this his ultimate song? perhaps...It is just pure magic, as good as any song can ever get..It's no surprise such an important record had to be DELUXED!!. Reissued in a super digitized edition with an inlay booklet with song lyrics, production notes, a very updated essay and added photos. There's also another disc with demos, alternates, working masters and session jams with the never released songs: "AIN'T NO SAYING NO", "TELL ME" and the unfinished demo "CAN'T FIND LOVE".A timeless album timely redone!!!.Very highly recommended to all who is into excellent music. You will be doing yourself a dandy favor to pick this true treasure up.

So much better remastered, one of my all time favourite albums and wonderful to have it in deluxe format. So many singles off this one and simply a great example of an album. The versions on a copy of Back to Front I have are so muffled compared with the clarity of this release. Well worth tracking down. The extras are interesting and the 12 inch versions always get people questioning where I got them from.

So nahmen hier Top-Leute wie Greg Phillinganes (key), Nathan East (b), John Robinson (dr), Darrel Jones (g), Jeff Porcaro (dr) und Steve Lukather (g) von "Toto" und einige andere bekannten Session-Musiker das brilliante Album "Can't Slow Down" auf. Ein Album der Superlative mit 8 erstklassigen Songs. No. 1 auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks, 160 Wochen in den Billboard 200, 1985 Grammy-Gewinner, weit über 20 Mio. verkaufte Exemplare und 5 Top-Ten Billboard-Hit-Singles, davon 2 No. 1. Und wenn man heute den Namen Lionel Richie erwähnt, sollte man auch "Can't Slow Down" mit erwähnen.Frage ist, ob man diese De Luxe-Edition braucht, oder die einfache CD Can'T Slow Down mit den 8 Songs ausreicht (was ja auch eine Frage des Preises ist). Die Doppel-CD richtet sich aus meiner Sicht mehr an diejenigen, die sich auch für die Entstehungsgeschichte des Albums interessieren; insbesondere, wie sich die Songs bei den verschiedenen Sessions weiterentwickelten bis sie perfekt waren. Und da findet man auf CD 2 reichlich unveröffentlichtes Material (das allerdings schon so weit entwickelt ist, dass die Unterschiede zu den letztlich veröffentlichten Titeln nicht mehr so groß sind).CD 1 bietet zusätzlich 12" Maxiversionen von "All Night Long" und "Penny Lover" sowie Instrumentalversionen von "All Night Long" und "Running With The Night" (1 Min. länger).Auf CD 2 gibt es 3 Demo-Versionen unveröffentlichter Songs, die wohl auch etwas geworden wären, hätte L. Richie sie weiter entwickelt. Der Rest der 13 Titel sind weitere Demo- und Alternativ-Versionen von Album-Titeln sowie ein kurzer Studio-Jam. Das ist sicherlich mehr für diejenigen, die sich für so etwas interessieren; ob jeder Käufer 4 Versionen von "All Night Long" braucht (die Demo-Version ist 7.20 Min. lang und damit 1 Min. länger als die Album-Version)?Ein 26-seitiges Booklet vervollständigt diese Ausgabe und erläutert umfassend und informativ (auf 7 Seiten) die Aufnahme-Sessions selbst sowie die weitere gleichzeitige Arbeit Lionel Richies für Sessions anderer Künstler. Der war wohl damals Tag und Nacht in Studios beschäftigt.Eine klare Kaufempfehlung kann man hier nicht abgeben, das sollte hier jeder Kunde nach Interessenlage selbst tun. Da ich bis zu diesem Kauf nur die alte LP besaß, war es für mich keine Frage, diese Version des Albums zu wählen. Das kann man aber auch ohne Frage anders sehen. Noch etwas zum Klang: Ich finde ihn sehr gut, klar und transparent und natürlich besser als auf meiner alten LP, obwohl die auch 1983 schon soundmäßig ziemlich ordentlich war.

For once remastering is a slight improvement over the original. The content still superb better than its contemporary in my opinion,Thriller.
