Quality
They are described as metal, but feel more like plastic. I would describe them as metal in appearance.

Love the look
These are great buttons but I'm not sure if they are really metal, they might be plastic, nonetheless they look great.

Good quality buttons for the price
For the money these are great. Used for button tufting an ottoman. Lots of pulling and only 1 out of 27 broke.

Just what I needed to finish two dirndls!
When a woman is trying to dress in a fairly authentic way for Oktoberfest, a dirndl is a must, but authentic bodice fasteners are very expensive. These metal-appearing buttons did the trick, and the shanks allow the ribbon to be laced across the bodice of the dress. A super inexpensive solution to my need!

NOT METAL!!
These buttons are NOT METAL! They are chinsy plastic and they creak like plastic too! I needed these for a project I was working on that got delayed and now I can't finish it because I needed METAL buttons! I want a refund!

PLASTIC
These are sturdy enough, but the title is extremely misleading and I wish i would have skimmed the reviews before purchasing. These are PLASTIC, and I doubt the coating is made of an actual metal either because I was able to cut one open with a common old pair of handheld scissors. They are a nice size and the shank is pretty thick so they will hold up better than the buttons I am planning to replace these with, but I specifically searched for "metal shank" buttons. That phrase should not be in the title of the product if that is not a feature the products has.I'm very irritated with this obvious (and successful) attempt to mislead consumers.
