Best edge finishing compound so far.
We have made close to 1000 items in leather over the years. We used to add dye to the white Toki. Now we have black brown and white and hope they add a red soon.It is amazing that you can use so little, and it really makes the edges smooth.Best stuff ever.

Amazing for Beginners
Love this stuff. Was worlds better than just using beeswax as a beginner. My suggestion is also buy burnishing pieces for a dremel if you dont want to buy a whole machine. For any beginners, ask more experienced people for advice and techniques. Im not by any means super experienced, but my method has worked sufficiently for me. 1st coat: water-burnish. 2nd coat: tokonole-burnish. 3rd coat: rub very thin coat of beeswax on edges, use lighter to melt/soften it-lightly apply tokonole again-burnish.

Huge timesaver
I've used Tokonole for a long time on my edges, but I hadn't tried the brown finish before. I make leather dog collars, and the edge process usually takes me quite awhile. I normally slick down the edges with water and burnish, go over it with a dye pen, apply Tokonole, and burnish one more time. This product has cut down that process significantly. I simply apply the Tokonole and burnish. Such a timesaver! It has a nice neutral brown hue, and matches the dye I use very nicely (Fiebing's light brown pro dye). I will be keeping this on hand from now on. Also, shout out to Springfield Leather for getting this to me so quickly. It was not prime shipping, but it might as well have been for how quickly it got here!

Powerful Color Enhancing Stain For Leather
This is good restorative color stain that by building several layers and buffing is doing what I had hoped for. Let me explain. I am a third generation shoe retailer and repairer. None of my leather supply vendors were selling this Japanese made gum stain. Always curious, I thought I'd try a jar. My first use was to stain the smoothly sanded raw sole edges of a new leather sole on a cowboy boot I resoled. I did not want it to be as dark as our usual brown Fiebings sole edge ink. I wanted a lighter brown or close to medium tan sole edge with a bit of character as the boot originally came with that type of edge finish. It took two trips around the sole and stacked leather heel base, but it looked pretty good. The best result was after it thoroughly dried I put it on the neutral burning wheel. It gave it just the right luster which I'd call not too glossy and not too one-note tan color. Kind of like a distressed sole edge that perfectly complimented the boot. So, I have to say I was very pleased. Compared to color enhancing creme polishes such as Tarrago it is more liquid and seems to have more staining power. This is great stuff, but be cautious to match it closely to a shoe or boot upper if you use it as a restorative color polish. It has strong staining power and you might get a new colored upper if you do not match it closely. When it matches it will help minor scuffs disappear and when buffed after drying it will have a satin like shine. I do not think it is widely available in myriad colors so this may be a limiting factor for exactly how useful it may be.

Tokonole burnishing gum
I use different colors of this product. All have been very good and provide a glassy finish to the edges of leather crafts.

Yesssssss! Burnish with ease!
This stuff is great! I especially appreciate the brown tinted version of this product. (I have the black and clear versions as well.) I definitely notice a difference in burnishing ease over gum trag.

Not As Dark as I would Have Liked
I do a lot of belts and this is a very light brown stain. I would have expected more I guess. I even tried to layer more in? No dice. I love the company for putting this on Amazon because it made it easier for me to buy, but... oof. Not this color. Mm, this is going to be a hard pass after I'm through with this batch.
