Digital SLR Astrophotography (Practical Amateur Astronomy)

Astrophotography is difficult, make no mistake, and beginners face a huge learning curve. Many will start with a Digital SLR camera that they may already have and this is the book for them. Although the book does get very technical - important for advanced photography - new material is introduced in a logical and eminently readable fashion. I found the book massively useful and a good read - a tricky balance. The attached photo was taken by me with a Canon EOS 650D DSLR with an unguided Askar FMA180 Pro wide-field telescope mounted on a low-specification EQ1 mount, powered only in RA. Processed in Pixinsight. The book can cover this as well as simpler and more complex astrophotography. Recommended unreservedly for newbies and experts alike.

Excellent reference book for new starters and old

Good level of content with equally good descriptions. Was a little disappointed not to see full color images and photos - would have expected that given the price point

An ideal book for beginners to astrophotography, but also a great revision source for the more experienced astrophotographers. The author’s experience is invaluable and is passed on in a way that neophytes like me can readily understand. The illustrations are to a high standard and show what can be done, even under trying conditions. Inspirational!

Amazing book, very in depth explanations of everything to do with astrophotography using a dslr. You can tell the author has a vast in depth knowledge of astronomy and astrophotography.

I have had the first edition for a number of years - now very dated. This is a thorough revision and represents an excellent purchase. Answered several problems that I had been having. Recommended

The author's obvious thorough understanding of astrophotography technology, software and procedures has really helped me to understand how complex this activity is. Still reading, but love this book.

I am a novice astrophotographer but have some experience with terrestrial and underwater photography. I have at least one other astroimaging book which, at times, goes into very deep detail. So deep that I find myself losing focus. This book is just right for my level. The language is CLEAR and CONCISE. The amount of depth provided is adequate and helpful but not overbearing. It is written at a level where most amateurs and entrants into the field can understand what is being described. I feel this aspect cannot be overstated. Keeping a readers interest and speaking at their level is the difference between a great book and a book that isn’t as helpful. Very well done. Thank you, you must have put an incredible amount of time into this. I would love to see you write a start to finish book on using Astro Pixel Processor.

Un ottimo testo per la comprensione dell'astrofotografia con fotocamera digitale. Completo e chiaro. Inoltre anche la formattazione del testo e l'impaginazione sono di qualità.

good read for astrophotography enthusiast-however i have observed few things.. pages mentioned on amazon are 364 and actuall pages are 348.. price is not written anywhere..such a costly book but not a single colour photograph. page quality and font sharpness also not up to the mark . seems like pirated/ copied version.
