Cat Castles: 20 Cardboard Habitats You Can Build Yourself Kindle Edition

I can make stuff on my own fine and I’m only 10. But it’s good to have inspiration. The book said to try different boxes to see what you’r cat prefers. I knew my cat (don’t laugh at her name) Sweetiepie prefers low ceilings and I only had one box, a nornstrum box, so I saw what I could make. It turns out my cat likes that better than my big project, an actual castle I tried to make for her from online. The point is, the book has good ideas and is very inspirational. And to the person who said “no exact measurements” is a bad thing, their wrong because all cats or kittens or tiny puppies are most likely different sizes and shapes. Yay Cat Castles!

I purchased this book for my daughter for Christmas, because she has built two elaborate cardboard castles for cats, paint and towers and drawbridges and all. I thought this book might give her some additional ideas, tricks, and tips. It delivers.First, there are very helpful sections on tools and techniques. Then the book launches into the actual projects. What I found especially helpful is that the book teaches several methods for making your own scratching pad or scratching post! There are also tips for making a few cat toys. Of course, creative cat abodes are the focus.Note that the 1 and 2 star reviews are from people complaining about such things as that the book didn't come with cardboard (!) and that measurements aren't provided. First, measurements aren't necessary! You work with what you've got. Second, measurements actually ARE provided when necessary. I'm attaching two relevant photos. As for the book not coming with cardboard, clearly these are shoppers who don't order enough from Amazon. There's your cardboard right there.One weakness is that the book really could include more elaborate structures, but it still deserves 5 stars. Also, once you get good at this, you can use the techniques and tips you've learned to create your own.

I ordered with some trepidation - would this be another diy cat fun book that over promised, under delivered? It DELIVERS! The "castles" are within my scope of expertise & have gotten my imagination perking for our own designs.

Fun book to look and but I’m too old and too lazy to execute any of these designs. I love looking at the picture but i know myself ... I’m too burnt out to actually make any of this stuff.If you have a lot of time on your hands and lots of extra energy you might be able to reproduce these designs . I’d pay good money if somebody makes these things and sells at a flea market .

At last, a way to reuse and recycle those Amazon boxes! Cute cat houses, ingeniously designed. Pays for itself with your first build.

Love this book. We started to make the houses and our cats and kittens love them. We work with a rescue group and plan to make these for our fellow volunteers and for craft fairs.

I bought my husband a chop saw and this book as part of his birthday presents. He built a cat van replica of his van using this book. Needless to say, he loves it.
