Worthless game analysis.

The biographical information is excellent and interesting. The game analysis is shockingly poorly done. Completely worthless. In this era there is no excuse for not running your book’s analysis through a computer. For the price of this book I expected a great multi-biography AND great analysis. This book is terribly disappointing.

Three of the four are my favorite players of all time (i.e. Tal, Petrosian & Korchnoi).

Very satisfied with the book. I also like Spassky.

Four Fascinating Lives

I bought this book about a week ago from a different venue, but wanted to share my impressions with those who might be interested in having this work in their collection. It is a wonderful weaving of the lives of four very influential Soviet Grandmasters - and what lives they were. The drama, the egos, the struggles and their games, all are revealed in an understanding, yet penetrating light. If you enjoy a good read and are a chess player who appreciates the beauty and struggle of a hard fought game, then this is the book for you. Andrew Soltis, the author, has hit another home run.

A Fascinating Look at Some Titans of Chess

Mr. Soltis is one of the world's best chess authors, and this is one of his finest books. Besides annotated games by some the most accomplished players ever, there is plenty of historical context and, most of all, human interest. The chess rivals featured in this book are brought alive in the pages.
