How does this compare to sound link 10?

Oh man....this is the best and loudest and clearest Bose has ever done in a small blue tooth in my opinion. I like how you can use it as a speaker phone as well. The battery seems to hold up well. I use it in our rv as a speaker when watching videos online. You can also link more than one so as to get surround sound so to speak. We love it.

How do I connect it to a macbook?

Hold the Bluetooth button until it flashes then connect in your MacBook via settings >Bluetooth > other devices

How loud is this unit?

Loud enough for me. It is Bose so it will get loud, I don't know the decibel level.
