How big is the tablet compartment? Will it hold a Microsoft Surface 3 (10.51 x 7.36 x 0.57 inches)?

The tablet pocket runs across the entire width of the bag, inside and opposite of the laptop sleeve. The pocket is about 10.5" tall and there is a velcro strap at the top. I think your Surface will still allow closing the strap placed vertically, but come close to the limit for that. That's the only potential issue. If you are not concerned about the strap, then the pocket itself could hold something even larger - I have used it for a leather bound letter size pad.

It fits my Lenovo ThinkPad P71 17.3 display, a little tight but the bottom corners are padded and the upper corners have about .25" of padding. My P71 is 16.5" x 11" x 1.5".

Will my 17" laptop fit? I have an ASUS G750. It is 16.3" x 12.7" x (1.2" to 1.8"). Larger size would be way too big.Need to fit under airplane seat

No this will not fit. I just bought this for my Asus g751 and it does not fit. I am returning the backpack. Very good well made backpack though.
