Yes it will, that is the very reason we bought it, our old one was broken and the door kept slamming! This appears to be working very well, no slamming and it slows the close down

This door closer can be installed so it opens 180 degrees. In order to open to 180 degrees the closer must be mount in the parallel arm style mounting.

Any body that can't put this on with the instructions they provide should have someone close to them remove their diaper wipe there ass and put them back in their baby crib, You can easily install with out instructions, and very reasonably priced!

This was a good replacement for my door. i was able to use some of the old brackets, so i wouldn't have to redrill for the new mounting plate. it operates well.

it works to close the door automatically

it works to close the door automatically, but it is really hard to adjust the correct position so that the door can be closed quietly. My door is an iron door, sometimes it makes a loud noise when door closes.
