Works perfectly
It is a powered USB hub so there is no problem charging/using several devices at the same time (phone, MP3 player, camera, flash drives, etc.) Rather than drilling through my desktop, I mounted the product in the wall and ran all wires to another hole and grommet beneath the desktop level. I like keeping my desktop clutter free so I built small shelves to hold the items while they are being charged/accessed. It works great for me. I have mounted two of these for both myself and my wife. This gives us 8 powered USB ports each that are easy to reach and we only use 2 of the USB ports on our PCs. My PC now has USB 3.0, so I am looking forward to Belkin refreshing this product with the new capabilities, but I hope they retain the form factor/mounting grommet so I can just run the new cables, snap in the new ports and I am all set. I have been using these for about 2 months now and have had no problems at all.

Almost perfect
Great product, however I've found that some devices, when connected to the hub won't function properly. In particular, (ATTN DJ's) the serato scratch live hardware will not pass a signal when connected through the hub.All in all however, its a great piece of hardware, looks slick on my desk and hides a lot of ugly wires.(Another small note, the LED was red in the unit i received.)

Belkin has lost a customer
**UPDATE**Bought in October, 5 months later after troubleshooting why my pc no longer could see the hub, a multimeter confirmed that the unit was no longer receiving power via the external source. Belkin customer service is non existent. To call them, I had to pay, wrote an email, and 2 weeks and 5 emails later, have not heard a thing. Unit was nice when it worked, although like others, it's durability though design is questionable. I'd recommend staying away from Belkin in general as trying to talk to someone about an RMA is harder than electing a president we can find no fault in. Dropping rating to 2 stars.Bought this for my desk as I wanted an easy way to access my usb ports, and also had 3 ambient lighting units that I couldn't run to the pc. Installation was easy, worked as one would expect, have had no issues in 3 months of ownership.Pros: Flat against desk External power source 4 ports PriceCons: No way to cover side holes after install without modifying

the number of the beast
Reduces desk clutter while simultaneously providing additional USB ports for the myriad devices associated with modern laptop computing (mouse, iPhone, external optical drive, external terabyte drive, etc). With this, only one USB cable is attached to the laptop, which facilitates bringing it to other locations. Only have to disconnect the power and one USB cable, instead of the power and 3 or 4 USB cables. My desk at home already had the correct-sized hole, and there is a nearby electric outlet, so all I had to do was drop this in and begin using it. If you are considering purchasing one, make sure there is a nearby electric outlet. Finally, although it appears to be of no consequence, the tiny light on my unit glows red, not green as seen on the product image on this web page.---------->> UPDATE <<----------June 30, 2017 - - - Device malfunctioned. Nothing attached to it is now recognized. The hub itself is no longer recognized. See image below, which is a screencapture. I got 37.5 months of use, which works out to $ .666 per month. If you buy one, tread lightly.

Won't charge your iPad
I purchased this because I was tired of searching under my desk for an open usb port whenever I needed to plug something in. This brings all of the usb ports I need to an easy to reach spot on my desk and works great as a hub. The problem is that it's not strong enough to charge an iPad. I thought that with it being a powered hub it wouldn't be an issue. It did free up a usb port on my computer so I can just permanently attach the iPad cord now but that's not ideal. This will probably work well for most peoples needs so if charging an iPad isn't a concern, I would certainly recommend it.

Looks great in my desktop
Unlike other reviewers, my hub fit very tightly in a 3" hole in my desktop. I used a 3" hole saw to put mine in so was able to control the diameter. I'm sure the reviewer who said this comes out when unplugging usb cables either 1) had a desk with a poorly cut 3" hole or 2) Didn't cut the right size hole. install was really easy and it works great.

Seems to work great.
I have about a 5 month old Ikea Computer Desk. my Computer is suspended under it in the corner. It's kind of a hassle to look under and plug something into one of the 2 front USB ports so I got this. I drilled a Hole in my Desk, Popped this into place. Plugged the USB Cable into the back of my PC and the power plug in to make it a powered USB hub, and it works great with all my USB devices!!! One I keep my Mini Wireless Mouse Dongles plugged in and that leave me 3 ports for whatever else I need. Plug in my iphone, or Kindle to charge up or connect to my PC. There's also slots on the side to run a few cables down if you like. You can twist a bit and lift up and easily remove it enough to fit a power cable down into the hole if you need to. My light is RED on Green like in the picture.

Works fine, needs more ports
This hub installed and works fine and looks very finished on the desktop. The only problem was cutting the hole for it which was larger than I could do with a hole saw. Also, be aware that there are no output ports on the back (underside) for USB devices that don't have to be frequently connected and disconnected (printers for example). I did not reduce the overall stars for these issues because they were part of the product description. I do rate 'usability' at only four stars because of the tendency for the 'insert' to pop out of the surrounding ring occasionally when a particularly tight plug is removed.

Sometimes it has problems connecting usb devices to my iMac. I have written it off to another apple control issue. I will see if it behaves when i get my new PC.
