These are great drives
I bought 8 of these drives for my SAN. 6 were from one vendor and 2 from another. The latter 2 were bad (DOA), so I ended up returning those two and getting 2 more from the first vendor. For mechanical drives, they are fast and quiet and serve their purpose. I will see how long they will last in my SAN.

I had to return this.
The drive needed a special cable for Sata/Power.

SAS IS NOT THE SAME AS SATA!!
Most of the negative reviewers need to pay attention to what you are buying...Just because you see a cheap drive doesn't mean it is going to work for your use case. These are designed to be used in enterprise devices. Read up and learn about Serial Attached SCSI. Same connector, yet different.Don't assume you know everything and that the seller or the drive is bad.... this is a case of PEBCAK.

Damaged Connector
Needed something inexpensive to test my DS380 build before I take down my other NAS. Received drive, slid into carrier, turned everything on, and had drive problems but intermittently. Saw drive carrier sticking out slightly and tried to reseat, but would not seat fully. Found connector damaged on back of drive. Returning.

False Advertising! Sata can only run at 6GB/s not 12GB/s! ╬
HGST are excellent HD's. The only problem is the advertisement! For those that do not know, Sata(which all old spinning Hard Drives are)can run at maximum 6GB/s! And that's at MAX! It doesn't do that all the time! The older SSD's that run on Sata run at 6GB/s and are faster than these spinning HD's so for the person who wrote this ad to try and spin it as something this unit is not capable of doing is plain FALSE ADVERTISING! So you shouldn't buy from this vendor as what other things might they be lying about? Just my thoughts on it. Look at the other advertisements for this HD, they only say 6GB/s and this one say's 12GB/s when they are the same model number. Why is that? Seem like bigger numbers sell more so...he just doubled the number thinking it would sell more. And it probably did. But it's wrong to do so..
