so much great info
We rarely travel without one of Rick's books. We purchase them when planning and use as a guide for all things within the area. The maps are good in the book too.

How to do Switzerland...
The small nation of Switzerland straddles the Alps in western Europe. It is about the size of the U.S. states of New Hampshire and Vermont together, and perhaps more challenging to explore, thanks to its rugged terrain. Rick Steves has some suggestions for the enterprising traveler in this new guide. In addition to its iconic mountains, forests, alpine lakes and rivers, Switzerland is divided by languages into four different regions. Each has a slightly different take on Swiss culture. The author suggests some careful planning in advance, to get to what you really want to see in the way of historic buildings, cathedrals and museums, unique cuisine, and of course the magnificent scenery. Take advantage of an efficient railway network that allows the enterprising traveler to see the sights while someone else drives. As with other Rick Steves guides, it pays to read the whole book before making choices and planning your journey. The guide includes an enticing selection of color and black and white photographs, and lots of useful maps for exploring Swiss cities. Well recommended to the enterprising traveler.

Our best friend in Switzerland
My husband and I traveled on our own in Switzerland for almost three weeks, train hopping and zigzagging throughout the country. We were following Steves' suggested itinerary which friends had already tried. Their experience - such as using the German train website rather than the Swiss - was a helpful addition to the guidebook, but the book's recommendations for restaurants and lodging were right on target, and the tips on train travel were invaluable.

Great! Get it before you go
This book helped out quite a bit. We had planned our trip to Switzerland on our own and got this book after we had the airplane tickets/air bnb's.So many of Rick's details helped us out in our 2 weeks there. We used his hikes too, even reading out passages during our tour of the old city Bern. His favorite hikes in Jungfrau were perfect, the quintessential Swiss hikes! Can't recommend this book enough.

Indispensable guidebook for Switzerland travel
I’m traveling in Switzerland right now using this guidebook. It is an indispensable tool for maximizing your tourist dollars and time in Switzerland. I love Rick’s walking tours and they have proven to be the best way to get acquainted with a new city after arriving. The dining and lodging recommendations have been spot on. A terrific travel book from the King of European travel books.
