Is the Velcro’s material on both sides for the entire length of the strap? I am looking to this as a replacement walking boot strap.

The Velcro Hooks are only at the last couple of inches of the end opposite the metal rings

they are 1 inch wide hold really tight

Get the longest lengths then strap several together to make the length up that you need. Look at the length of the hook part of the strap and subtract from length to determine how many to buy.

how long is the velcro portion?

I have the 24" straps. The hooked part is about 2-7/8" long, just short of 3 inches. The rest of the length is the tighter fabric where the hooks hold on. The maximum usable length of the 24" straps, then, is about 20 to 21 inches.
