Why is canon toner four times the cost of other compatible toners? 🤬

Have you tried any of the "less expensive" cartridges? If not, save yourself the trouble and just get the originals. The counterfeits will set off warnings and alarms in the printer, and if you get them to print will leak and bleed on the pages. In my estimation the originals are the only suitable cartridges to use.

will toner "dry up" if not used in a specific time frame?

No. Toner is powdered plastic and will not go bad over time. It is not like ink where it's a liquid sprayed onto the paper. Toner is fused by melting to the paper.

how many pages will this print?

The only answer is "it depends". I think they rate them based on 15% of the page being covered but pages filled with text or illustrations will certainly use more ink. I print a fair amount of color (borders, patterns, etc.) and full page photographs. I probably get 500+ pages from a set a cartridges.

Is the chip included? Do I have to install?

Easy installation. Remove one cartridge, insert new cartridge No separate chip.
