For continuity test, does the base produce an audio signal when it detect a close circuit? Does it beep when the wires are crossed?

If the wires are crossed (the two wires you have attached the tone generator to) you will lose the sound.

Is there a manual or instructions?

I honestly do not remember if any was in package. But the tool is basic and simple you most likely already know how it works. plug or connect to wires and turn on. Push button to listen for the tone on the wires.

How is this for daily usage?

Way to cheaply made to use daily. Barely works at all. Get something better.
