Does the job.
Our integrated microwave packed in after 20 years service. Advised not to go for another integrated was hoping to find a free standing 25L microwave that would fit in the space. Unfortunately, microwaves have grown in size over the years so decided to go free standing with one of the smaller machines we could find.....step in this Toshiba microwave. Nicely styled and small in size plus ease of use for the basic functions. It does the job for us.

Toshiba microwave - great
Great microwave , neat and compact. Seems to have a design fault where they have not aligned the internal bulb with the grill , so is pretty dark inside when using. All they had to do is move the fitting a inch forward and the bulb would have a fighting chance of shining inside the cavity and not around a corner.Apart from that really quiet compared to my old one and works very well, easy to use and intuitive settings.

It’s definitely a microwave
This microwave microwaves, it’s easy enough to operate and heats things up. It’s fairly quiet and takes up a lot less room than my old 25L microwave. The light inside the microwave is however reminiscent of a distant star, very dim.I also note that the year is currently 2025, we have had digital clocks for quite a while, enough time to finesse their time keeping abilities. The clock on this microwave happily loses about a minute a week, so memorise which button you need press to set the clock. You’ll need it!Not that either of those things stop it from doing what it’s meant to do. Decent value for money, I bought it when it was on sale.

Compact compared with other 20L microwaves with poor control captions
We have two other microwaves: one Samsung (just died) & one Sharp - all 20L. The Tosh is physically the smallest & the cavity is smaller. The glass dish is a full 40mm smaller in diameter than the Samsung. We'd bought a basic Sharp as a backup - no LED, two nobs & no buttons. The LED was sorely missed so this time we looked for models with LED & nob(s) to adjust power & time. The other thing we'd learnt was that power needs to be selected as watts e.g. 200, 400, 600 or 800. Why do manufacturers insist on captioning the power nob with "Low, medium low, medium, supersonic & really really jet-like". Food manufacturers advise microwaving at (say) 800w, not "supersonic".The Tosh is working out reasonably well despite us having great difficulty reading the captions on the face (see photo - kitchen with light on). The captions need to be either larger & have great contrast with background. It'd have been nice if 800w was the default power setting as we use this 95% of the time. The power is selected with one button (Microwave) & then needs to be set by pressing a second button (Starts/+30sec which should say Start/Set/+30sec).
