Yes the magnets are inside and cased in the plastic forms. Everything is glued together. My classroom set as been played with hard for 3 years and no concern on breaking or chipped edges.

They have magnetics around the edges so no glue or screws are necessary

Yes they are! my son loves building a castle then knocking them down with a robot he has. The magnets are very sturdy and durable even after all they go through.
