Q: how long can the substrate last in the bag?

Not long mine was green when it arrived.

Q: Do I just need this kit and a spore syringe to grow or would I need something different or additional?

You would want something like rye berries or straw depending on the mushroom. To inoculate with a spore syringe to colonize then mix in this substrate but if you have myceilium already colonized you would just mix it into this substrate. You wouldn't want to just inject this with spores, from my understanding.

Q: How long will this product last before use when stored properly? And what would be recommended storage if possible?

The sooner you use it, the better. Because it's a sterilized substrate, it will probably be fine for 6 months to a year. I'd keep it in a cool dry place. This is a good option and I've been pleased with the product.

amazon, home depot, hydroponic store...... but if you are planning to add it to this substrate you would need to sterilize it. This bag is made to be used without adding anything to it
