Baracuda R0524700 Side A Direction Control Device Replacement for Baracuda MX8 Pool Cleaner

I have saved a MX6 twice with this replacement. Over time, the vacuum will stay stock in one corner without moving from that spot causing the pool to turn green and white mold grows after. I am happy this worked fine for Zodiac MX6. Easy to replace too. No more laziness. Time for vacuum suction to work well for hours.

My MX6 no longer gets stuck in the curve area, near steps, or on drains. The gear action redirects my MX6 which in turn helps keep the bottom of my pool really clean. Easy to install as well. Just 2 screws. Be sure to order side "A" for the MX6 model. Very happy customer.

I've been fighting my MX6 not moving much and tipping over like a flipped turtle for weeks.I can see the belt turning while in use so I knew nothing was jamming the unit. Tore down and cleaned the unit twice, inspected for any defects like a bad bearing, even put silicone lube on the cover seal thinking it wasn't sealing. Just could not figure it out.The only thing I couldn't really inspect was this control drive so I ordered it so I could check it off my list. As I was pulling the belt off, I noticed that there was vertical play on the top cogged wheel (the one that attaches to this unit. Since the belt was turning, I didn't expect for this unit to be bad. After I noticed that, it made total sense to why my MX6 wasn't moving. Installed the unit and works like new!So, if your MX6/8 isn't moving much, and bearings spin freely, no hose leaks, belts are good (by the way, make sure you actually have tread on the rubber. When you look at it in the water, you may see the tread marks but they may be totally worn and not grabbing) and no physical obstruction or defects...DO THIS: With the pump off, grab your cleaner out of the pool (another tip: when pulling it out of the pool, don't pull it up by the hose. Use your net to bring it up high enough and then grab it. The water weight and resistance will destroy your hose, which is a common complaint on the OE hose. Just like pulling an electrical cord by the cord vs the plug). Lay it on the ground and simply push down gently on the top wheel. There should be very little play. If you can move it like a loose tooth, this is what's causing all of your problems.Good swimming!

First time replacing the direction controls for our pool sweep. These fit perfect and were easy to install. Great value for the product. Durable despite being plastic. Had to order A and B separately but the cost was the same and they arrived quick.

need a replacement Side A direction control for our 2.5 yr old Zodiac M6 and this works great. Installation wasn't too difficult although almost every screw holding the pool cleaner together needed to be taken out to install the new part. Pool cleaner works great with the new part.

Easy to replace. I bough the returned unit option… it took longer to arrive, but it was new in the bag, OEM part. Fixed the unit and it is back to normal operational status.Hopefully I don’t have to replace it again for the next 3 years plus.
