So does this product come with a chain or a rope as it's hanging mechanism?

It's a carabiner that has a locking screw mechanism. I found it a little difficult to use. So I just replaced it with a regular carabiner. My red lored Amazon, medium sized parrot, loves this toy. It's held up for about two weeks, and I'd say he'll get another week or two out it. About average for the bird toys I've bought here. I really like this brand.

Where is manufactured?

I, too, want to know where these toys are manufactured. Many toys from China can be dangerous for parrots as they contain zinc, which is toxic to parrots if they ingest it.

What type of wood is it? Pine?

It is pine that is died different colors. It takes my blue and gold about a week to chew through it.

What are the dimensions of the top piece of wood? 4x4, 5x5? A friend gave me one similar that one of my conures loves to sit on. Time to replace it.

I am not able to give you a definitive answer. If I remember correctly the top piece is a 4x4. Then they are rectangular on down.
