Fits and sticks
I use various types and brands of sanding discs and this protector works with thrm all. The multiple holes is great for allowing sander to efficiently remove wood particles into the bag.

Essential For Mesh Discs
Whether you go with this brand or another, this is definitely a necessary upgrade if using mesh sanding discs. My relatively new sander had its hook and loop degrade extremely quickly, but adding one of these pads not only prevented the need to replace it, but also has not itself shown the same degradation. I found this brand to be a very good value for the quality.

A must have.
If you have a ROS and use Mirka Abranet, these pad savers are a must.

It saves the Abranet pad.
I am grateful I had one of these pad protectors on when my sandpaper came off and I didn't realize it had . I ruined the pad protector, but not the pad itself. It is good to have on hand because the velcro eventually wears down.

A Necessary Interface Pad
This pad is used to protect the Velcro on your sanding pad when using Mirka sanding discs that are really screens so allow lots of sawdust through and are very thin so can get heated up and melt your Velcro on the sander. This solves that problem, kind of in my case decreases the dust collection through the sander. I could punch hols in the pad but have not been able to find my hole punches. Why bother with all this? Well my friends, the Mirka discs are so goo you will want to be able to use them. Sanding an mice hardwood veneer with a 600 grit you can feel that even though it is more polishing than sanding at that point it has a good 'tooth' it is getting in there and doing it's job, this is more obvious on coarser grits, they just cut like crazy at any grit. In a random orbital sander without using one of these pads you can easily ruin your sander's pad from the heat.If you use these pads your sander pad will last longer. I gave it only 4 stars because the hole pattern does not come close to matching mine but it has a lot of smaller holes all over so something is getting collected anyway.

These DO NOT fit a stock Mirka 5" pad!
These pads DO NOT fit a stock Mirka Deros 5" sander pad. The hole patterns are quite different and don't really line up at all. They do however fit the $20 knock off aftermarket pads which actually have better dust collection than the stock Mirka pads.

Good fit on mirka
Fits great on my mirka sander. Thought i would get a 2 for 1 by using it on my festool sander but no luck. Holes will not line up right on my festool, have to buy a festool protection pad.

Don't forget to get these if using Mirka/AutoNet disks on an orbital sander
Essential if you are going to use Mirka or AutoNet sanding disks. If you don't use these, the hooks on the backing pad will not last very long at all and at $30 plus, they are an investment.
