Any tone control's on the remote only?

No tone controls. The only control with regards to sound is the ability to increase/decrease the subwoofer (bass) volume. There is also a "loudness" button.

6 × 5.5 x 11.25 inches but the width tapers down slightly by about a centimeter from the back to the front

Does this come with any wiring to connect to record player etc?

There is only a Type- A USB to Type-B USB cord, power cord, speaker wire and a remote.

Does the jamo s 801 pm have a 3.5 mini jack for connecting to back of computer ?

It doesn't; you'll need a mini jack to RCA adaptor for about $4 (bought anywhere) and use the RCA line-n jacks. These have clean sound with plenty of bass and loudness, you should like them.
