I personallywouldn’t use it for an outdoor.. there may be other outdoor blocks that would be better ...

would this be ok for my cichlids plecs and corys?

We only had tetras in our tank when we used this & worked really well for them on 2 holidays however I don't know if it is the right food for your fish so sorry.

Does it matter how many fish I have in my community aquarium? >

size and quantity of fish is relavant as to whether it will release enough food to keep all the fish fed. it tells you on the back usually what size fish it caters for. if large fish then more than one feeder will probably be needed, if small fish but lots of them one will do. I used two 14 day feeders for my quite large fish in a 6ft x24" tank, I think around about 15 fish altogether to last the week. there was usually a little bit left when I came back after a week.
