You can start from the ground, off the ground, or even from a 2 or 3 o'clock followthrough position - your choice. Also, you can choose to graze the ground or not with continuous swings. I have both lengths, but have found the shorter one more useful. I use it for rhythm and tempo, yes, but also for experimenting with mild squatting and then extending both legs through impact, while not losing my hip angle, to find what leg action causes the device to fly the highest during the followthrough. I keep it in the car and use it bit pretty much whenever my wife and I visit a community park, which has been quite often during the last 18 months. Finally, I frequently use it prior to hitting balls at the driving range to get my top and finish stretched out. I recommend the device. Michael Weber

Q: Can this be used to practice the driver swing? I see indoor chipping practice but not full swing training.

I believe it is best used for developing the full swing muscles and stretching on the backswing and follow thru. I carry mine in my bag and use it at times to swing it before hitting my tee shot. It is like a baseball batter in the on-deck circle swinging a weighted bat, then the bat he hits with feels lighter

You should get the shorter swing trainer. When you get to a 9 or lower hdcp you will be able to handle the longer version.

I would most definitely go with the 48 inch. It’s far better for training your timing. The shorter one might be for further down the road when you need to just find tune your shorter swings.
