Our chickens love, love, love this organic chicken feed. We use it as a scratch for them. They go for it immediately. I have raised my birds since they were chicks on New Country from Starter and Grower feed to this Layer feed. It's easy to ferment and the girls love that, but they also really enjoy it unfermented as well. I chose corn free due to being in very HOT Texas and only supplement cracked corn when the weather gets in the mid-thirties and under, which is not very often. They hit the grower stage in November and seemed to need supplemental protein even on the grower formula, but that may be due to the cold and filling out the rest of their feathering all at the same time. When I started them on this Layer feed they were really excited about it. Opening the bag it looked great, very clean and dry with a good smell. The girls don't seem to need as much of it either now that they finished out their initial growth spurt. This really is a great brand and worth the price for happy, disease-free birds, who love to bounce around and play.

Original bag arrived totally broken and placed in a plastic bag with the food overflowed in the plastic bag. Nasty, unacceptable and irresponsible. Product is contaminated since even for chicken food must be tampered resistant.

The chickens eat it. I ferment their food and the non-organic food I sometimes buy from a local farm for $14 compared to $90 smells much better when it soaks and ferments. But I don't know, egg production seems the same, which isn't much during the winter. I'd like to buy organic products, but at the cost I probably won't ever purchase this again.

So after a few months of no eggs from Purina Layena and the girls just looking like crap I changed to this. Girls love it and in 3 days started getting eggs again. It's been about 2 weeks now and they are starting to look good. 2 years on Purina Layena not a problem till Oct/Nov 2022... Get your girls off Purina Layena or any Purina food!!!

This is the best organic chicken feed I have found. But the chickens want the kernels, so they will scoop the nutrient powder out onto the ground. I was pellatizing the powder but I don't have the time. I am currently searching for a new supplier.
