Excellent purchase.
This bit of kit has proven itself to be really very very good. At the price I half expected it to be a cheap plastic toy microscope and was pleasantly surprised by its quality. It has proved to be very well made bit of kit and performs perfectly well for a multitude of potential uses.Connectivity to my Mac (OS 10.11) via USB is literally plug and play. As a USB 2.0 UVC PC Camera it works fine with Apple's Photo Booth and with Digital Viewer (free web download). However it is worth noting that the Zoom and Snap buttons on the 'scope are unavailable in this configuration and maybe better connected to a PC. Minimal set up provides 'out of the box' use and good documentation is included - if needed. The provided stand, although perfectly functional with some attention, is a little limiting and maybe a bit fiddly. Better - more easily adjusted stands are available and transforms the ease of use. The array of LEDs work well to illuminate the subject being viewed. Overall the resolution of image provided is adequate for the range of magnification and works fine. It is an excellent tool for both workshop and home use. Most of all it is an excellent educational tool and a great present for any budding young scientist. The 'scope is lots of fun and provides endless hours of exploratory activity. The 40X -1000x range of magnification works well and, although maybe not providing views at a cellular level, is really great for examining plant and insect life in finer detail.Pictured is the stylus from my record player that has now been inspected for wear and cleaned... and an ant's head.Great value, good quality and a very good buy.

Value for Money
What a wonderful microscopeIt feels to be well constructed and came with solid a zip-case that holds the microscope and stand securely. There is also a little additional space to add a few tools (Tweezers probes etc)While not exactly plug and play with my PC and phone it was very quick to get set up.The photos were taken in around 10 minutes from opening the box.A good set of setup instructions come with the microscope. (The supplier’s website has these also if like me you need a larger font.)Adjustable illumination is a nice feature and useful, for example, when looking a circuit board that have a protective (reflective) varnish. Not that this is its intended use, it was the first thing that came to handVery good magnification. The picture quality is sharp and doesn’t show any distortion around the edges throughout the magnification range.I can see me having a lot of fun with this and suspect that once on the desk in my study will spend little time back in its case! All in all, good hobby microscope that is easy to use and portable.I suspect it would be a useful addition to an inspection workshop or field engineer(Could have done with this 20 years ago!)

Cheap but effective digital microscope
I had a number of problems with the software, but these were resolved thanks to prompt and very helpful e-mail exchanges with Bysameyee. Full marks for customer service, full marks for ease of use, 4/5 for image quality but only 2/5 for ease of installation. In detail:I installed the software from the CD provided. The Amcap imaging software could not find the microscope; Windows 10 reported an unspecified problem with the device driver. Tried to re-install the software - no improvement. Eventually deleted the latest version of the driver (Glavcam) and installed an earlier version found on the Net. This worked and I was able to choose the microscope as the imaging device in Amcap and take photos.I then tried to install the Cooling Tech measurement software. This would not work at all at first because two required folders, Cap Picture and Cap Video, were not automatically created during the installation process. Having created these two folders manually I could get images and take photos, but I could not work out how to carry out the calibration process in order to measure the size of objects in the image. This was down to the poor quality of the translation of the instruction manual from Chinese. Bysameyee sent me a revised manual and I was eventually able to figure out the calibration process myself. No further problems to report as yet!

Good for gardeners wanting to check for harvest time.
I struggled to get this working on my android phone (Galaxy Note 10). For some reason, it kept disconnecting and then it would not be recognised again until randomly, it would work for a while and then cut out again. Pretty frustrating overall, so I gave up and plugged it into my macbook instead which worked perfectly. I actually think its not the device itself, rather the USB-C adapter, which is sort of a "clever" built in thing, so I do wonder if you used the standard USB-A plugged into a proper USB-C adapter you might get better results. Once working, however, the camera was perfect for what I wanted it for, which was checking my veggies for the perfect harvest time. A useful tool, but sadly marred by some connectivity issues. If you have the patience to mess about with it, or if you're a bit of a greenthumb and want this to check when to harvest your plants, then I can confirm, you'll get a good look and can get nice and close, making the process easy.
