Finally found exactly what I was looking for!
I put a 32" flat screen computer monitor on this stand. The tripod is very sturdy and I love the cotter pin adjustments that eliminate any possibility of the height slipping. I will say, the weight of the monitor is no problem for the tripod, however the tray itself flexes under that weight. I have it balanced and it works fine as long as it doesn't get bumped. I may put a piece of wood on top the tray to prevent the flexing. If the tray was metal (rather than plastic), it probably wouldn't do that. But, my application may be different than most.... I need to see my music in a larger format than that on a laptop when playing, hence the large screen. BUT, this is the only tray that is large enough to hold the base for my monitor, which is 18" (Tray is 20"-- perfect). I gave it 5 stars because it's a great product and most people wouldn't be putting some heavy monitor on it. Plus, it extends high enough to see past my kit (see photo).

Terrific stand
Why did you pick this product vs others?:This item had a large platform area, a great, sturdy and flexible susable and is lightweight. Even though the platform is plastic, once it is mounted to the stand it is VERY stable and sturdy. The platform angle controls are very useable.

Serves It's Purpose! Good Buy
I want to tell you..if the top of this stand was a little better it would be a Five Star review. Very heavy construction on the base and connection points. I believe that this thing could hold me if I stood on it! BUT..The plastic top is thin and I am going to have to beef it up a little. It is sturdy plastic, but it's only about the thickness of a normal cd case that you buy to listen to from the store. Mine was a little warped on the corners and it looks flimsy compared to this very well built stand.I suspect that I will cut a peice of 1/4 inch plywood to size and use the existing hardware to mount it.I am very happy with this purchase and the money that I spent on it. Very reasonable and the modification that I will make will be very easy for me. I would definately buy it again. The stand is built like a Sherman Tank. The top is an upgraded TV tray from the 70's. With the modification it is still WAAAAAY cheaper than other ones that I have seen.

Good sturdy stand
I got the stand to use as a portable desk for my laptop. The picture showed my MacBook 16" on the stand. Plenty of space on the tray. I like it very much. If there is one weakness, that would be the tray is plastic. But not a big deal. The steel rod is 1.5" in diameter. It is really sturdy. But it is heavier than other stand. It holds my Epson projector very well. This is definitely super sized better than my other stand. With the lock, the tray stay raised to the height. Pretty happy with the Pyle stand. Not so happy about the Amazon warehouse though. I bought this item used, so someone must have returned it. There was missing parts. The screws and nuts were just dangling in the big box, not in plastic bags. It was missing a nut and a washer. Just bad that Amazon warehouse didn't check for missing parts. I could have returned it to Amazon, but decided to try Pyle support. I contacted Pyle for the missing parts. GOOD customer service from Pyle through email. They took my request as warranty service and shipped the parts. It took a few days to get from New York. One note was that the Pyle service representative asked me to take a picture of the missing parts. I supposed if the part was missing, how could I take a picture of the missing part. Anyway, I was glad and happy that they tried to help. At the end it worked out. I got the stand working.I also use it as a standing desk as well.5-Star for Pyle standby their product4-Star for Pyle customer service.5-star for the quality of the stand.

Sit-stand desk Pros/Cons List
Got this as a sit-stand desk. Enough room for my laptop and maybe a cup of coffee. Really love it!Pros:1. Great price! @< $50 hard to find a legit desk2. Sturdy. It's not going to tip over even fully extended. There is a little bit of wobble from the top desk but nothing from the legs. Likewise, it's not going to break without serious misuse.3. Stores in the closet compactly. Will store exponentially smaller than any other design of desk.4. Folds down and sets up very quickly. Quite frankly I was tempted by the Pneumatic and Crank adjustment desks. They are totally overkill and don't store nicely. First try I extended this from sit to stand with my laptop on it in seconds.5. So light weight and agile i can move it to any room in my house quickly for a change of scenery.Cons:1. The table top is a few inches smaller than I would like. It fits a mouse but barely. I can write notes on a large post-it but again would love a few extra inches. Candidly if the company offers a bigger top I'd buy it extra and swap out the one that comes with it.2. The table top is a bit wobbly. The legs are not wobbly, so no risk of tipping over. I feel comfortable to put a coffee or drink on it. The annoying part is that when typing the wiggle causes my laptop screen to wiggles just enough to be distracting.

Very light but sturdy, perfect for a stand-up desk setup that's portable
I bought two of these projector stands to use as a portable stand up desk (laptop on one and keyboard on the other). They work perfectly for this. They're sturdy and I find myself comfortable enough that I can even lean on the top a little. The top plate is large enough for a keyboard and mouse side by side (as long as it's not a keyboard with a number pad). The base is much sturdier than the top plate which is a good thing. If you lean on the plate too much you can feel it bending so you back off before you have any risk of tipping the thing over. This is good, useful feedback because it's easy to forget that this isn't a full stand up desk and you shouldn't really be leaning on it. These fold down a lot to take up very little space. They're lightweight but VERY sturdy. Plate can be locked at any angle and have never slipped on me from the position I set.
