This is the 3rd journal I purchased. It's perfect for me and just the right size. I love the paper that the pages are made of and the fact that I can decorate the cover however I choose. Uninspired but good value for theMoney. Not optimistic about how it’ll hold up, it’s stuff and brittle so I know it is not constructed with acid-free PVA

I have been writing in these notebooks now for 7 months nearly daily with various fountain pens. I just reordered 6 more of these notebooks. They lay flat better than any other notebook I have used. They are not pretty, but I have them as refills inside a leather A5 notebook cover, so I don't care about how nice the insert looks. I optimized for laying flat and not bleeding through with fountain pen ink. I got what I wanted with this notebook. There are cheaper options at big box stores, but then the bleed-through means you can't use both sides of the page. On this notebook, I'm able to use both sides even when I make a mess with an ink splotch as big as my thumb. Minimal bleed-through. I will keep getting these for my long-hand story writing. With a sturdy cover (mine is leather) I can take it anywhere, and take advantage of free moments in various locations. I am a fan. Nice work.

Prisons and jails usually have specific online retailers listed that they will accept books and and similar items from; as long as they are shipped from the seller (ie. Amazon or Tidal Wave Books) directly to the institution.It's important to discuss the order with your incarcerated loved one before you send anything because inmates usually have a certain amount of books or items that they're allowed to have at any given time, etc. Understand your institutions rules for mail or I promise they WILL flag it as contraband.I cannot speak for every facility, as these institutions are FICKLE, to put it nicely - but this book was accepted into Mat-Su Pretrial in Palmer, AK. I meticulously searched for a notebook without staples, without strings, and without excessive adhesive, etc. This fit the bill perfectly and my incarcerated loved one was able to have something unique and moral boosting while serving their time.

These journal refills fit into my leather cover perfectly. I love that when I fill one up, I can pop in a new one. They are durable and pages are not flimsy. I’ve even done light watercoloring in them with success. Great find!

I finally got around to using this notebook and wanted to leave my thoughts here. The cover is not the greatest. While it is a filler notebook to place inside your own cover, it is still very flimsy and cheap looking. The linen binder is out in the open and rough and scratchy...need I say ugly? The description said the cover was Kraft paper, and it wasn't kidding. When it is time to archive this book, I will probably need to create a cover for it because I wouldn't want to leave the binding out in the open, even for simple labeling.The notebook fits within in A5 traveler style notebook and has been holding up for two months without falling apart. I would hesitate to put this into a notebook cover where the kraft cover was the means of keeping the book in place, but traveler's covers hold via a band inside the pages themself. So far, it is working. The paper is a cream hue and is very fountain pen friendly. There has been no feathering or bleed through of the paper with my writing. I use quality ink and a fine nib on the pages. The paper is heavy enough that I feel it would stand up to a light watercolor wash. The pages open flat and are easy to write on.As a writer, I've been using the notebook for my morning page practice and for this humble task, it works. The price was certainly reasonable. Because of the cover, I am not sure if I would recommend this notebook wholeheartedly, but if you need something to braindump into and prefer an A5 size, it will get the job done. Due to the paper quality and that the book opens flat, I gave it three stars. I kept the notebook and am using it, but it is not one that I would likely repeat the purchase.
