For 30+ years we have been living with a SW facing 2nd story deck that was always a problem around sunset. The sun's rays could not be blocked no matter what umbrella we used. I finally decided that we would try a sail and this was the best improvement I made to the deck since I recently refinished the surface.With roughly a 11' X 16' area to cover I ordered a 12' X 16' (about $43) allowing for a pitch downward of 25-30 degrees. The reviews and qualities of the sail were good with open-weave, slight stretch, UV block of about 80%, solid stitching and stainless fasteners. I first returned a tan sail because the color was not right but this "adobe" color provided just enough shade without being too red, ie, pleasing tone.Be aware that you do not get the material you need to fasten to your house or poles. With the sail you get nylon rope to use to attach, but I felt it too much of a weak/stretch factor and did not look professional enough. You need to buy an alternative separate. I chose a Sun Shade Sail stainless steel hardware kit (about $20 extra) which provides some optional pieces I did not use but still feel worth getting because you probably will not know what you need until you start hanging the sail.On the negative side there is really no instructions for installing the sail, how it is expected to perform over time or using the extra hardware.On the positive side, it's a pretty easy project. I installed the 2 D-hook fasteners to the house with the D-hooks of the sail using 1 carabiner each. Then I attached 2 "structural steel" 3/4" pipes (bought from Lowes) to my deck in two places using fasteners specifically made for this (extra strength, painted or galvanized. for 3/4 in pipe). Also, you need to buy the real sturdy 3/4 in pipe hooks to use from that section of the store.Finally, stretching the sail and installing. You should be able to stretch the material a bit by pulling it bhard, so keep this in mind on where to locate your poles. I used one turnbuckle to fine-tune this and ended up relocating a pole about 8" farther as you will notice the material stretch maybe 6 inches after being hung for a couple weeks and after some rain. It's solid as a rock and has stayed up in gusty winds.I have to say this is one of the best products I've bought in terns of doing the job I expected and the low cost of the project. it's not a difficult job to do and the sail can be taken down easily.

The shade is great for creating some shade. The shade requires A LOT OF TENSION. If you are attaching these to posts, tge posts need to be several feet IN THE GROUND. I made thar mistake. I thought some 4x4 posts cemented in a large planter would work. 👎 No they did not. The weight of the shade alone was wobbling the post. Is even the slightest breeze came by it would fall over.

Provides great shade (I gave a low sun protection score because I don’t think it really protects you from uv rays). We purchased this to replace the one the previous owners had that broke in a wind storm. Worked great and stretched out to fit perfectly. Very happy with the price here vs other places.

My husband and I were looking for an economy way to provide shade to our ultra hot patio and came across one of these in a neighbor's yard. Oh happy days. With a little research and multiple trips to Lowes, we installed our shade sail and we are SO HAPPY! We can now enjoy our patio during the hottest of days. The temperature difference that the shade sail provides is UNBELIEVABLE!! Plus, it's easy to take down during hurricane season. NOTE: Use anti-seize on all turning points on hardware. Trust me!

I have had this up on the back side of our pergola to block the west Oklahoma sun for 4 summers now and it is still doing it's job! Durable, blocks the sun beautifully and it is so easy to clip up on the posts to the connections I installed. Withstands the Oklahoma wind and storms without fail.

This shade sail is easy to install and blocks about 85 percent of the sun even in the rain it blocks heavy drops but it does leak

Weatherman says we had 81 mph wind gusts today.. shade sail and mounting locations still standing strong, sail looks stretched but not sure if its cause it’s wet. Water gets through it very easily which is what it’s supposed to do so not sure why they are reviewing “water resistance”

No había emitido ninguna opinión, debido a que no había podido instalarla y ver que tal funcionaba.Hoy ya tengo dos semana con ella puesta, pero quisiera externar unas opiniones aquí, antes de publicar mi reseña en la página de Amazon:En primer lugar excelente la entrega y el tiempo en el que se hizo.Una vez instalada, me di cuenta el instalador y yo, que no eran mucho de fiar, los cordones blancos que la acompañan, para sostenerla a largo plazo, por que se requirió unos alambres para poderla fijar.Yo vivo en Apodaca, Nuevo León, una ciudad del área metropolitana de Monterrey, por lo que el calor de verano aquí, es de 35-39 grados centígrados promedio. Me dí cuenta que no da en sí una sombra muy efectiva, ya que tenia puesto antes de eso una capa protectora de las que se ponen en los vehículos para protegerlos (semejante al color del producto que les compré) y absorbía más el calor y daba una sombra más sólida. La realidad, es que opté por su producto, por lo que mencionan de la protección de los rayos UV, pero no siento que sea tan efectiva en las condiciones de mi ciudad.Siento que no estoy muy satisfecho con el producto, esperaba algo más de algo que se llama SUNNY GUARD.Ahí no termina todo. A menos de 3 semanas de instalado, sale ésto que aparece en la imagen, por lo que la vida útil de este producto ya no será de años. Muy decepcionado y ya perdí mucho dinero. Me mandan un correo para pedirme una reseña, les aviso para ver si de verdad quieren mi satisfacción como cliente, pero ya pasaron 2 semanas y ya no les importó.
