Govee E12 Bulbs: Bright, Reliable, and Worth the Price
I’ve already reviewed the excellent Govee A19 bulbs (1000 lumens) and the more disappointing BR30s (850 lumens). The E12 bulbs were the last piece in replacing all the lights throughout my home. Thankfully, they’re much more in line with the quality of the A19s than the BR30s.Despite having fewer lumens than the other two, you’d never notice. These bulbs are impressively bright for their size, which says a lot about Govee’s consistency and design. As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, setup is quick and painless. Screwing in the bulbs honestly takes longer than getting them online. You connect via Bluetooth in the Govee app, and from there, you can switch the bulbs over to your Wi-Fi network. The app gets the job done, controls are intuitive, but it still feels like it could use some visual polish and refinement.Once everything’s connected, performance is solid. Color changes are smooth, and the bulbs integrate well with Alexa and Google Assistant (HomeKit support is still clunky, even with Matter). While the app gives you the most control, basic automation works fine through your preferred smart home platform.Overall, these are great bulbs even if a bit pricier than their A19s or BR30s equivalents. Still, for those finishing off a smart lighting setup, they’re absolutely worth considering.

Great Smart Bulbs With a Few Setup Quirks (Possibly Fan-Related)
We’re big Govee fans—almost every room in our home is Govee-equipped (TV, bed, desk, and more). This was our first time trying their Govee E12 Smart LED Bulbs, and while the end result is great, the setup was a bit confusing.Because these bulbs support Matter, I expected a seamless connection, but I had to add each bulb individually in the app. There may be a hub or bridge I need to buy to link them together more easily—something that wasn’t immediately clear in the instructions.Once set up, the bulbs work well, but there’s a noticeable flicker between cool and warm white when turning the fan switch on. This could be due to the older ceiling fan, so I wouldn’t blame the bulbs entirely.Despite the quirks, I still 100% recommend them. Brightness, color range, and app control are excellent—especially for the price. Just be aware of potential setup and compatibility issues with older fixtures.

Works great but might not work with all ceiling fans
Easy to install and connect to! Love the app and the different color setting and how you can group them to do different effects. One issue I had though is when I installed these in my ceiling fan they started blinking rapidly and not staying on. I thought it was a connection issue, but it actually had to do with my ceiling fan. Older models have a “power limiter” inside of them that create electrical noise that messes with these lightbulbs. Fortunately, I’m handy with electricity and disassembled my ceiling fan and rewired it to bypass the limiter. If you run into this issue though, you might have to return these bulbs or ask an electrician to remove your fan power limiter.

Great but doesn't work in a dimmable fixture
Wifi, color changing, scheduling the on/off timer, grouping bulbs to control them together all works great. These bulbs will not work in a dimmable fixture, and they revert back to the original color temperature (dentist office white) if they are turned on/off with the wall switch instead of being turned on with the app. I missed the return windows so since the fixtures bought these for are dimmable I'm out $100 for the 6 E12 bulbs. Annoying.

Govee Simply Makes Great Lights!
Just like every product I have ever had from Govee these lights work flawlessly! Moved to a new home with ceiling fans in every room that take these types of bulbs and I was a bit worried I wouldn’t be able to find smart lights that would work. I had only ever used their regular light bulbs and light strips before and I am happy to say these work just as well. Set up was simple and they all paired automatically with Alexa. They are dimmable, and can be changed to any color with their app or by voice with Alexa. My regular Govee bulbs have lasted for more than 4 years so the price is great in the long run. No need to look anywhere for any smart lighting in the future as Govee seems to have every type you could want.

Works Well...Matter Still Needs Work, But Bulbs Are Solid
I picked these up specifically because they support Matter, since I'm trying to future proof my smart home. Setting the bulbs up wasn't exactly a walk in the park...took me a few attempts to get everything synced up with my Matter ecosystem (using a mix of Apple HomeKit and Alexa). But honestly I don't think that's on Govee or the bulbs. Matter as a protocol is still kinda finding its feet and there are a lot of little quirks that can make first time setup a headache, no matter what brand you use.Once I got the bulbs paired, though, they worked exactly as expected! responsive, vivid colors and the integration through Matter is seamless now after jumping through some hoops initially. If you're willing to tinker a bit and understand that Matter itself just isn't totally polished yet, these are a great choice. I'm hoping the protocol gets better because the hardware is definitely ready for it.Wouldn't hesitate to recommend, just be patient with the setup if your smart home is more complicated!

Definitely worth it.
I have a lot of govee bulbs and led strips, and have been waiting for bulbs like these. So here is my unbiased review.I love them. They are bright, I have them on my front porch for all to see. They have different "scenes " for every holiday, changing the bulbs to whatever the season is. The app is ready to use, always had been, so I don't know what people have problems with. You can set colors, routines, have Alexa turn them on. Yes you need wifi for that. It does use your phones Bluetooth. I highly recommend them for color and brightness. The only con is if you have them all grouped and want them to come on at the same time using your phone, you have to be withing Bluetooth range. If your at work or in Ghana, you can turn them on, one at a time, but they wont be color synced. Its annoying, or maybe I missed something, but I doubt it. Buy them, enjoy and thank me later.
