Healthy, easy AND tasty.
After buying a crock pot I embarked on a search for the tasty, easy recipes that would replicate the wonderful slow cooked pots my mother used to make. I was appalled to find that the bulk of collections and books called for store bought dried soups and dressings, and canned “this” or “that”.This book absolutely has everything I was looking for.It begins with recipes for basics you will need, such as broths and sauces. Not a soup powder in sight! There follows the easy, mouth watering recipes I was hoping to find. Casseroles and stews, stuffed peppers and yummy squashes, hearty soups, healthy breakfasts and desserts. Vegans and carnivores will find equal value in this book.Of course the low sodium is a big bonus. Things taste so much better without the horrible gobs of salt added to processed foods. I’m always puzzled as to why they add so much salt to food. It eliminates choice for low sodium dieters. If salt were left out, those who choose to ladel on the salt are free to do so. Sorry about the rant!So there. If you want all the good stuff, you’ll find it here.

Recipes contain salt.
Many of the recipes contain salt. I purchased this book and was disappointed. I already cook in my slow cooker with fresh produce, herbs, and spices. But I don’t cook with salt. Was hoping for some new unique recipes with new flavors and not with the amounts of salt the recipes describe to help the flavor along the way. Will try the recipes without the added salt and adapt with other things. The book itself is presented well and has some nice photos.

Pretty good.
Not quite as many recipes as I had hoped, several unusual dishes that I probably won't make. Some odd recipes, like cooking granola in slow cooker for 8 hours?! As for people who complained that some recipes include salt; it says low sodium, not no sodium. You can always not add the salt.

Not happy with this purchases at all
I purchased this to help with a low sodium diet but there is a lot of recipes that have salt as one of the ingredients. Not happy with this purchases at all. Not the seller's fault though.

No no no!!!
Will be putting in a yard sale. Who needs a recipe to cook a whole loaf of bread in a slow cooker to make French toast or scrambled eggs? Twenty five of the recipes include the books home made gravies and sauces. Your slow cooker meal requires one day to make the sauce and then the next day for the meal. The gravy i made ,from her recipe, had no flavor. I would not buy this book again and I think I will put it in the free pile at the yard sale. I gave it one star because the pictures were pretty.

BIG WAIST OF MONEY
this book is a joke, it's not low sodium it's more low calorie. many of the receipts are adding salt, why would you add salt?? also they ask for "low fat products" The low fat products have more sodium in it than the regular items do.the other joke is each receipt has 3 categories: low sodium(400+ mg), lower sodium(177mg), lowest sodium(<100)The majority of the receipts are in the low sodium category which is a joke because 400+mg is still high.the few that are in the lowest sodium category are homemade condiments.THIS BOOK IS A JOKE

Wonderful resource for heart patients
Bought this as a Christmas gift for my mom who recently got two stents and a pacemaker/defibrillator. She has made several dishes from it and has liked them all so far. It has been a great resource for her since she doesn’t get on the computer.

It will take time to prepare lists and some ingredients.
It has good variety, have not used any recipes yet. I did noticed many things need preparation with other recipes, so a heads up that to follow as written one needs to also prepare those recipes. Example: barbeque sauce needs to be prepared using prepared homemade ketchup. I do not use large quantities of either of these. Most recipes are not that complicated in this book, there are good vegetarian for those cutting back on meat too.
