Longacre 50417 (0-60 PSI) Tire Pressure Gauge by Longacre

-The hose is plenty flexible (not silicone floppy, but flexible enough and won't kink on itself).-The guage is easy to read, even though it's only 2" diameter (disclaimer: I have 20/20 vision).-The Presta valve adapter swivels (the gauge end is fixed).-All materials are good quality, especially for the price.-The glow-in-the-dark dial works very well (it is bright, charges easily and quickly from another light such as headlights, and retains its brightness for long enough to check all 4 tires).-The gauge is accurate and consistent.I tested this gauge against both of Joe's Racing analog gauges (32307 and 32317), and I prefer this one. The hose is more flexible than that of the 32317, but less flexible than that of the 32307--not that this really matters, as they're all just fine. The glow-in-the-dark dial works better than both of the JR dials, by a fair margin (brighter, whiter vs yellowish, stays charged longer, ...). Since it's a 2" diameter dial, vs the 2.5" of the JR dials, and since the numbers are boldfaced, rather than fine lined, it could be argued that the numbers are slightly harder to read (but no problem whatsoever for me, either way). All three of the gauges have adapters that are essentially the same; so, they all seal equally well, and all gauges come with the optional ball-gauge adapter and pressure release valve. The overall fit and finish of this gauge is a bit better than either the 32307 or the 32317. Perhaps most importantly, I did notice that the 32307 consistently read 1 psi below the Longacre and 32307, but the latter two were consistently the same. I assume that the 32307 I got was simply lacking in correct calibration. Finally, for what it's worth, the packaging of the Longacre gauge was nicer (plastic case vs shrink wrap to cardboard backing).As a final note, since none of these gauges come with a protective case, you may consider, as others have done, ordering a case such as the Caseling for Graphing Calculator Hard Carrying Travel Storage Case Bag.

Worked smoothly

I rarely write reviews of the things I buy on Amazon and when I do, it's never on the day I receive the item. I swear I could win an Olympic gold medal for procrastination!But I've been worried for days about a potential slow leak in one of my winter tires so I just HAD to try my new tire gauge tonight!You have to expose it to light (normal works well but blacklight is much faster) but the glow in the dark display is very practical for situations like this!I won't say I had fun checking my tires pressure, but it was something very close to it because right after I finished I also checked my boyfriend's.Turns out, all my tires were fine but my boyfriend's were between 27-31 PSI (vs 36 PSI recommended pressure) so I also got a chance to try my Dewalt air compressor, which also arrived today.Pre filling, the readings with Longacre gauge were the same as with the Dewalt tool, which makes me confident about their accuracy.Yes the gauge doesn't keep the reading after you remove it from the air valve, but this beats trying to read the metal gauge that pops out from the air compressor handle at the gas station ANY DAY.The other night, I had to do that past 2 AM in the dark under the cold Montreal October rain.No matter how hard I pushed the chuck into my right front's tire air valve, I could not get it to align properly so a LOT of air escaped and I couldn't put it back in.I was starting to think something was wrong with my air valve, but when I went to the garage for my antirust treatment, they checked that tire's air pressure without any issue and it was down to 24 PSI...The rotating chuck head on the Longacre gauge is a pleasure to use and you don't need to be as strong as the Hulk to get it to align properly with the air valves.It wasn't the cheapest option but you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend that gauge to anyone.

Pros:Accurate and preciseFeels durable and well made... time will tellCons:A little bulky to keep in a glovebox - no big deal, just leave it in the trunk next to the spare tireSummary:Nothing annoying like having 4 different tire pressure gauges (2 dial, 1 pen style, 1 digital) and none of them agreeing with each other, sometimes by over 6 psi, or with the car's TPMS. Hard to figure out which one to rely on. I finally decided to retire those cheapo gauges and decided to invest in some quality product. This one feels nice in the hand, like a true tool. The gauge is easy to read. The tip swivels, which is nice since the rubber hose came with a slight curve from being stored in the bag that way and wouldn't straighten out all the way initially.The air bleed valve button is nice, although a bit gimmicky. You can still overshoot it since the needle drops to about 20 psi or so when you're actively letting out air, but I guess its a bit easier to push the little button than to take the gauge on and off the valve stem and push in the valve pin with your fingernail.As far as accuracy, this gauge happens to match the TPMS on the car exactly (not that this really means anything as far as true accuracy), and is within 1-2 psi of what my local tire shop said they put on my car (although who knows how accurate that is). When you read the reviews, other reviewers have had theirs checked with calibrated machines and found theirs to be accurate, so I'm hoping that mine is accurate as well.

This gauge is the best I've ever used. I was constantly buying inexpensive ones from auto parts stores that didn't work very well and it was always a guessing game as to how accurate they where. I should have purchased this long ago as I would have saved money and frustration by the time I purchased all those cheap ones in past. Easy to read, can bleed air off with the valve on the gauge, extremely well built. It does not hold the pressure on the gauge when removed from the tire however the hose is long enough that you can hold the chuck on the valve and read the gauge while bleeding air off if required.
