Nvme housing that works well on a Mac mini M1
This is a fantastic item, it’s reasonably small in size and the build quality is superb, light alloy with a switchable cooling fan that is hardly audible, I fitted this with a 2TB Samsung NVME 990 pro drive, and attached this to my Mac mini m1 and set it up to be the boot drive, this runs perfectly. I am getting faster speeds from this drive than I am getting from my Mac M1’s built in ssd hard drive. File transfers are so fast. It has never overheated even under continuous loads. I will be purchasing a second one in the future and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Solid and effective
I needed an SSD for video editing (to save were and tear on my laptop's internal drive). I paired this with a WD 2TB NVMe SSD and it flies. It's plugged into a TB4 port on my Caldigit TS4 and, whilst not as fast (according to the Blackmagic speed tester) as my MacBook's internal SSD, it's running at full Thunderbolt 4 capacity. No more stuttering when editing video (something I was starting to get with my Samsung T7).This enclosure has the advantage of a switchable fan - not needed most of the time and I only click it on when transferring large files to it, and when rendering final video (as that seems to be when it gets hot) - the solid aluminium box is plenty of heat sink for more normal use.

Works extremely well - but heat pads need care to work properly.
I bought the Acasis 40Gbps enclosure after seeing online video reviews. It is an excellent product, robust and well made. It is very easy to install NVME M2 SSDs and I used a Samsung 980pro SSD. The speed of the device is in line with reviews and I get around 2.8-3.1 GB/s speeds - pretty much as good as the internal SSD on my MacBook M2 Pro.The only issue I had is that it is very difficult to ascertain if the heat pads supplied are in contact with the case when they are applied to the SSD. Using the 1mm pad was not enough and adding the 0.5mm on top, I was still not certain. I purchased 3mm pads, but that was a bit too much - I think that with my components, a 2mm pad is about right ...... if that helps others.

Works great
I inserted a 4TB Crucial P3 Plus SSD into this and it was fairly simple to set up. It is very solidly build and has a premium feeling weight to it.The included fan can be useful for large transfers and it is very quiet, barely audible more than 2 meters away. The speeds are great too, often time averaging around 2GB per second. One thing to note is that this enclosure is more aimed at a static setup where you don't want to be swapping drives too often as it only includes two thermal pads which are needed for optimal performance but tricky to take off once installed.Overall, I recommend it and am happy with the purchase.

Great cool enclosure, fast and sturdy.
I very happy with this m.2 enclosure, it's fast and runs very cool. I don't even have to switch the fan on.I'm using a Lexar 4TB m.2 (790 series) and getting writing speed of 2297MB/s and reading speed of 2792MB/s via Thunderbolt.Beware that sometimes it connects via USB instead, specially if you have another usb devices connected to your mac. To make sure you're conected via thurnderbolt check via System Report window.Speeds are limited to 10 or 20gbps when connected to USB.

Great first impressions. Get the thermal pads right first time.
Fairly easy to setup. The thermal pads supplied are very thin and not suitable for a non-heatsinked Samsung 990 drive. 2x seperately purchased 1.5mm thick thermal pads, doubled up to 3mm, were required instead. This allows contact with the metal enclosure, but still allows the case to close securely. You may require different thicknesses depending on the drive you install.Transfer speeds are excellent and haven't had any issues so far with the two I purchased. Allows me to actively edit and playback 6K ProRes footage on my Macbook Pro with no problems at all.Worth getting the fan version IMO - the enclosure will get hot when you're actively working with it or doing lots of data transfer. It's about the same volume and pitch as a generic laptop fan on medium speed - not too intrusive. Shame you can't tweak the fan speed slightly, as the default speed keeps it plenty cold enough. Maybe there's a way of modding it?

Acacias 40Gbps - stable, good but expensive and not the best performance
I like the compatibility, and the thermal with the fan and the thermal pad. The fan is silent and I think it starts/stops as it needs (I have other enclosures as the UGreen and the difference in sound and start/stop is noticeable by far). On the other hand it is really expensive (120Gbp when I bough it) for a REAL TB3 intel chipset (really stable, I have it 24x7 connected without issues) with a top speed of max 3GB/s even sold as 40Gbps (due TB3 specifications!)

Form AND Function! Perfect.
Impressive build quality, easy of memory card fitting (no tools required), compact form factor and super-quiet switchable fan. So happy with first one I got I ordered a second.
