Update: reliability erases all other issues for me:
Update: march 2023: (5+ years owning and using daily) it still works, and is still a fantastic purchase for me. Other that replacing the battery, no problems other than the lack of childproofness!Update June 2020: at 2+ years later I havebupdated it to 5 star: you know, it still spills occasionally, and its still not childproof, but I have used this pill bottle every three hours for 2 years straight, and only now is it starting to act a little glitchy. It has travled everywhere with me, been banged around, had water spilled on it been dropped, and we have to change the battery every 6 months ( I'm pretty sure that if I wasn't using it absolutely constantly 24 hours a day, the battery would last a year.) only now is it starting to be a little wacky, as it is decided to start turning on the alarm once an hour twenty-four hours a day every few days: do I think that two years is an acceptable amount of time for this little device to last with all of the abuse it has taken? Absolutely. I just changed the batteries again and maybe it'll stop setting the alarm for me every hour of the day, and if not, I will happily buy a new bottle and continue to replace them every two years. This thing saves my sanity. And even though I've tried a number of other options I haven't found any that were as portable or reliable as this one.Oh! And it is now super clear that it is not childproof: the seller took our comments that it was easy to miss to heart! Thank you!March 2018: I feel like a 4.5 would have been a better scorescore. In retrospect, I probably should have noted the big letters in the listing that say "cap is not childproof"- however, I conveniently missed that, and note that.. well, the cap is not childproof. surprise?Other than that, there are a few little things that are problematic for me specifically, in my use case.*The cap is not childproof. (again, surprise?). I have a 3 year old who is, thankfully, very very well trained never ever to touch mommy's pill bag, and I have a locking pencil case that I keep the traveling bottles in, so I still have a layer of protections.* because the cap is not childproof, and there is no real latching mechanism, the cap has a tendency to loosen when it's rattling around in my bag. this ether resets the timer, or spills my pills inside my bag.*I accidentally push the buttons on the top when I'm trying to open the cap on bad finger days. Ask me about the time that I accidentally set an alarm for the middle of the night and could not figure out how to turn it off because it was, well, the middle of the night.* I have a tendency to open the cap, and *THEN* try to look at what time it was last opened. (I don't take meds at a specific time, more like a specific duration, and just need to keep track if I need to take them earlier consistently ) If I don't look at the timer before I start unscrewing the cap, the time is lost.*I find it a little bulkey*Its frustrating that if I ever want to set an alarm, i'm going to have to keep the instructions around because the instructions are a bit hard for me to remember.HOWEVER-This totally does the trick. The pill bottle is way bigger than I need- but probably perfect for someone with larger pills. It was pricier than other options, but this guaranteed that I had the right pill bottle to fit the cap.For older adults and people without children, the lack of childproofness is probably wonderful! Most people probably don't take their meds in them in a giant bag, so the cap loosening with time is probably also not problematic. This seems like the perfect counter top pill bottle.

Can Tell When I Last Took My Medicine
I love this ePill Time Cap Bottle. My favorite part is that I can tell when I last took my medicine. I forget easily as I take my medicine as needed. So this product is awesome as it records the last time I went into my pill bottle. It has an alarm if you want to set it up to remind you when to take your meds but I don’t use it. One thing though is it is slightly top heavy, you need to keep a good amount of pills in it or you can have problems with it falling over. I absolutely love it. It has saved my life a couple times. It has gone up in price quite a bit however. What hasn’t.

Works As Advertised
I only use the basic function - The bottle shows when it was last opened, which is important for medications that are to be taken as needed, but not too frequently. Thus it is always known; how long ago the last dose was. That function works perfectly and setting the time/date was very easy. I have three of these bottles for three different pills. The bottles are easy to label - I used a band of colored tape and, in one case, a red sharpie, to distinguish the bottles.

Great for forgetful people
I use this for a medication my cat gets every other day. I can do once a day without too much issue, or MWF/TTh, but every other day is a huge PITA for me. I've got reminders on my phone, which can tell me when I SHOULD give it, but not when I DID give it. This tells me when the bottle was last opened, so I can check when I last gave my cat her pill. She has cancer and this is for the steroid that is part of her chemo regimen--so it's kinda important.I do not use the alarm settings, so I can't comment on how well they work. The one thing I don't like is how top heavy the bottle is. It falls over at the lightest bump. I just store it upside down, which isn't a big deal. Also, because the bottle is opaque, you need to open it to see how many pills are left. And then that becomes the time on the cap. So make sure to be intentional about checking how many you have left, or you might get confused.

Works, but with limitations
I use this to take my ADHD meds because shockingly, people with ADHD aren't good at remembering things like that. The pros are that it's simple and does exactly what it claims to. It's just about the only way I can reliably remember to take my meds every 4 hours and quickly tell if I took them already. On the downside, it has some pretty annoying limitations. First you can only schedule alarms exactly on the hour. Given it has a perfectly good clock in it with hours and minutes, this restriction seems pretty arbitrary. Secondly, you have to do the same alarms every day. I typically only take my medication 5 days a week, so that means I have to either deal with extra alarms or leave the cap off the bottle and hope I remember to put it back on Monday. This one's baffling too, as the bottle also tracks the day of the week, but best I can tell there is little you can do with that information. Third, and this is less of an issue since it's mostly a set it and forget it item until your meds change, the steps to set the alarms are pretty unintuitive. When I do need to change it, unless I've done it very recently, I usually need to go redownload the manual from their website every time because I can never remember how.I spent a lot more time talking about the bad than the good, but it's not actually a bad product. It's just that the good part is that it generally "just works" so there isn't much to say.Oh, and the pricing is absolutely ludicrous. I can see my original order in 2021 and this was $30, which was already high. The fact that the price has gone up 50% in 3 years for a product that I'll eat my shoe if it costs them more than $5 to make is crazy. But the truth is, there aren't really any comparable options and they know it, so if this is what you need to take your meds consistently, it works well and gets my (grudging) recommendation.
