Edited to add that apparently there is a reset button on the back. I used that and the numbers seen to be working again. However I will still never buy another one.I did not buy mine on Amazon but I'm disappointed I threw away the packaging. Over half the keys don't work at all. They're not all together do there's clearly a serious flaw. I'll stick with TI from now on. I know why Sharp is cheaper

Convenient for Hexadecimal Calculations: Not Always Correct
While developing some software using a Model EL-531x calculator to confirm calculations in hexadecimal, one result stood out (wrong).Problem as entered: 0xFE FF FF FF divided by 0xFF gave 0x1 00 00 00 as the answer. I believe that answer is incorrect. The problem has been re-entered many times on two different calculators of the same model and consistently gave the wrong result. Correct result is 0xFF FF FF.Similar divisions, e.g., 0xFEFFFF divided by 0xFF , gave the correct result (0xFFFF). Also of note, 0xFE FF FF FF divided by 0xF gives the correct result.This matter was reported to Sharp service representative in USA more than a month ago and no response has been received. While that calculation may be uncommon, one needs a calculator that always gives the correct result.
