Best Mini Rules Ever!
I've been playing RPGs and tabletop wargaming since the early 80's (MERP, Red Box D&D, Battlesystem Skirmishes, etc.) and can say hands down this is the best game system for fantasy wargaming. I recently got into the Hobbit SBG (my first foray into Games Workshop's products) and while those models were nice and the rules weren't bad, GW as a company seemed to really want to charge for any little thing they could. I also really didn't like the fact those rules were limiting when it came to using my own non-GW minis. I searched around for a generic, open ruleset and SBH came highly recommended. For under $15 I figured I had nothing to lose. The rules are concise, fast, and very common-sense. The rulebook takes under an hour to read and is well organized. I like that it sets the framework for the game, but also makes it very easy to alter or add-on your own house rules. On top of that, the creator of the game runs a Yahoo! group to answer any questions. I've played numerous sessions with the rules already and absolutely love them.

Great Gaming Value!
I have played MANY miniatures games through the years, and have repeatedly struggled with updated army lists that render an army illegal by the rules, or so ineffective that one must spend a tremendous amount of money to make the army viable again.I decided to try these rules, as the price seemed very reasonable, and as a means of trying to share my hobby with my kids. I have not been disappointed. The rules are clearly written, although you may occasionally have to go back and refresh your understanding of an earlier section. The game itself is very enjoyable, with great replay value l he. I strongly suggest that you check out the video on YouTube of the review and demo. Even though. the guys in. the video make a few minor errors, it is a very helpful tool in strengthening your understanding of the game.To Arms!

Intro to tabletop wargaming.
A great simple system for introducing people to tabletop wargaming in general. The only thing is I feel it is lacking in the magic and different weapon stats aspect, but again, it's great for new players. Advanced song of blades and heroes has an expanded magic and weapons system for those so inclined.

Fast and Fun
A friend introduced me to the system. I find it fast and fun. You don't have to drop hundreds of dollars on manufacturer specific models(Games Workshop, I'm looking at you. You can use whatever you have handy. The system plays fast and has several expansions to allow for more scenarios and complex rules. For the price for the PDF it is a great deal.

Highly recommended
I won't rehash the detailed the other reviewers have left here. They are spot on. Super easy to understand, fast, can use any miniatures, etc..etc. It really is a great system for newbies and veterans alike. The printed version has a nice glossy cover, is laid out well and includes lots of nice b\w illustrations. I highly recommend!

Fast, fun, streamlined but deep minis skirmish game!
I have been playing these rules for several years and live their deep simplicity of play. The activation mechanic lends itself well to solo play. One if the main strengths of the system is you can play with whatever minis you already have. The quality if the physical book is top notch and the bone colored pages is a nice touch for the fantasy theme.

Simple and Imaginative
See my review of "Flying Lead," also. "ASoBaH" is simple but not simplistic. The rules read clearly and easily; setting up a game is easy. These are great rules for a cheap gamer, like me, who wants to use other than "official" figures and terrain to game. Very player friendly, the author also encourages house rules to customize.

Fun & easy
Such an amazingly fun & simple game. It's been perfect with my daughter who's learning basic math at school. With COVID I watched her doing remote learning and her teacher asked if they had dice to get them to roll them to add a variable to some simple addition and subtraction problems. So I realized I could make it more fun for her and picked up this ruleset. We've had a blast so far!

Fast but still interesting fantasy 1:1 combat
Interesting and innovative small scale tactical combat system for classic fantasy battles. Not a game for mini-maxers or number crunchers or a replacement for a tabletop wargame rule set, but I would recommend for roleplayers who occasionally need fights with more than the average RPG party on each side

A nice fantasy skirmish experience.
I bought this book to validate my purchase of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar miniatures, despite my lack of willingness to play. The rules are relatively simple and the playtime is quite short. My favourite part is the sheer range of unit classes and types. With a little imagination, you could incorporate almost any AoS minis into you game and keep the other half off your back.

Great book for skirmish games!
Great book for skirmish campaigns, Simple rules with additional content in it to make games more complicated if you want.Rules are for either 15mm or 28mm miniatures, but could also be used for any type of miniature size really (depends how strict a gamer you are).Book is informative and laid out well with a well documented list of 'pre-made' profiles at the back to which you can easily use your obscure miniatures for!I use this book solely for my skirmish games and Mantic's Kings or War for my mass Fantasy War Games, These books are the only 2 books you will likely need!
