Questions for Jesus: Conversational Prayer Around Your Deepest Desires

I discovered Questions for Jesus after taking one of Tony’s workshops on Transforming the Heart. This devotional workbook helped me first focus on how to get out of the rationale part of my brain and identify the desires, or deep longings, of my heart. Tony provides a concise explanation of what desires look like and how they function in our lives. He lists 16 major desires such as belonging, approval, recognition, significance, joy, and being known that help me discern my own desires. I find this incredibly helpful because I can't always understand or categorize what desire I am experiencing in a given situation. In the second part of Questions for Jesus, I have learned how to take my desires to Jesus through prayer and let him meet them. For example, when I am feeling insignificant, I can turn to page 20 and read about significance in the Kingdom of God through the lives of Peter and Andrew. Next the book provides questions I can ask Jesus such as “What is one place in my life where you see more in me than I do in myself?” Before I know it, I am engaged in a conversation and Jesus speaks to me about my significance. I am always amazed at what I hear in response. Jesus is always eager to have a conversation and remind me of who I am to Him.As a coach, I have also used Questions for Jesus over the course of 8 weeks with a small group. The interactive study that is available from the authors really helps the group understand how to affirm others, connect with Jesus, and begin to change the world around them. I highly recommend it.

God spoke through "Questions for Jesus" and its companion volume, "The Invitation," to transform my faith and relationship with Himself, more than through any other book except the Bible. "The Invitation" gives the biblical and practical foundations for back-and-forth conversation with Jesus that transforms lives. "Questions for Jesus" gives 52 practical devotionals and additional teachings that continue to develop amazing intimacy with Jesus. Questions for Jesus is an incredible vehicle to take your relationship with God out of your head and deep into your heart. For those that struggle with understanding the concept of having a relationship with God but have not been able to experience what that is like, this book will launch you into the experiential. For those that already are close to God in their relational walk, but enjoy going deeper this will provide the questions that will send you to places you might never have explored.I bought one copy for myself and within 10 minutes after describing it to my husband, he wanted a copy. After describing it to a friend, she wanted a copy. It's one of "those" book. Like Jesus Calling it begs you to go deeper and gives you the tools to do it. Tony's and others' questions have lead me into great dialogues with God and as Tony says, there are no unanswered prayers that way. The added bonus for me has become that my husband is now experiencing and communicating new levels of relationship with God. Always the internal processor, he now has a very deliberate model to contemplate and it is something we can mutually share in experiencing our relationship with God.A heartfelt Thank You Tony for taking your giftings, talents, and experience as a life coach and releasing it in such a profound and impactful way. The readers' relationship with God Will change because of this. It cannot remain the same!

I started by reading 'The Invitation' also by Tony Stotzfus which lead me to this devotional. It has revolutionized the way I understand relationship with Jesus. When you stop to ask Jesus His opinion and then take time to listen, it results in transformational conversations with the Living God and the Man who is also God and the King of the Universe. Jesus really does want to answer our questions. Often, we are afraid to ask because the church has long taught that the primary and sometimes only way you can 'hear from Jesus' is through the bible. Stoltzfus reminds us that Jesus himself said 'My sheep HEAR my Voice!'. It's true, we need the Word of God to check what we hear but we can actually hear Jesus speak directly to us in daily conversation. Since I have done this, it has revolutionized my life on more levels than I can possibly recount. Give it a try. I promise it will be different from mainline teaching but you will be amazed at what happens when you stop hearing just men's thoughts about God's Word and begin to hear the thoughts of Jesus Himself.

This book guides you through listening to Jesus in conversational prayer. He explains the idea of seeking to meet our deepest desires in our relationship with Jesus. Using the devotions regularly has really helped me experience God's love and goodness in a deeper way.

Great understanding of why we do, think and feel the things we do. The introductory chapter was very insightful, and the devotional pages are great for growing in intimacy and self-awareness.

I was waiting for this book! Tony crafts meditations that touch my heart both deeply and gently. I'm learning to ask great questions of Jesus, whether about my big challenges or the littlest of things, and I'm finding they are all important to Jesus. Using them in my own life also helps me to bring the value of asking great questions to my life coaching clients. Thanks Tony!

designed to reinvigorate and personalize the reader's relationship with Jesus, this book takes a very different approach to engaging with daily scripture readings. I've been blessed by using it, however it is full of errors which are distracting.

Really thought provoking questions. I am Christian and have been so all my life, yet I never bothered to think about these questions. My life is different after reading these questions and the scriptures that go with it.

I have both the app version and the kindle version.The author takes the reader into an encounter with Jesus on focussing a passage from Matthew and hear what Jesus has to say about the reader.This is more than an app or book; this is about learning to romance with Jesus, in hearing from Jesus His desires, His heart about the reader. So questions like ' Jesus, how have you been pursuing me for the last 24 hours?' or what He feels, brings Jesus into intimacy with the reader, me.  The journey of praying from faith that He is already operating out of love towards me, rather than praying in a way that expresses doubt about His good intentions is what the reader will learn;  in the 'how' to lean into hearing Jesus tenderness towards the reader, me. It is a book to the lived, everyday, every hour, every minute of our lives, such that it is normal to lean into the tender intimacy of romantic Jesus. It can be used for individual leaning in and group learning with accountability and testimony for Jesus. A must for every believer or non-believer to experience Jesus heart towards you
