Matar un ruiseñor / To Kill a Mockingbird (Spanish Edition) Paperback – September 1, 2011

I love "To Kill a Mockingbird" and was so happy to be able to read it in Spanish. Strangely this book is available as a physical book and as an audiobook on Audible, but you can't buy it on Kindle. I do most of my reading on my e-ink device so I hope that they publish an ebook version soon so I can read it on the go.

Having grown up with this story as a mandatory reading selection in the United States, I thought this would be a good place to further my understanding of the Spanish language. Many parts are very difficult to understand, even as I compare side-by-side the same story in English and in Spanish. But sometimes, I read the words and almost instantly feel fluent in what I'm reading because of the word choice by the interpreter(s). This book has given me more phrases to use in Spanish that I otherwise could have not learned solely from a textbook or dictionary.

Matar a un ruiseñor es una grandiosa obra que nos pinta una época marcada por perjuicios raciales. Me atrapo la maneraen como se desenvuelven los personajes junto con la historia. Creo que Harper Lee logro exitosamente desarrollar una tramacon una delicadeza juntando a la perfeccion las piezas de este rompecabezas. El personaje principal (Scout Finch/Jean Louise) es unode aquellos personajes con los que te encariñas. Me identifique mucho con Scout, por que a pesar de su corta edad, desarrolla desde tempranaedad un criterio de sentido común, y se hace preguntas acerca de la sociedad, que en ese tiempo, estaban marcadas por muchos criterios, entreellos el racismo. Sobre todo en la época de la gran Depresion en el sur de los Estados Unidos.Como mencione, Harper Lee da un mensaje mediante un desarrollo sutil. Scout junto con su hermano Jem, hacen travesuras en el barrio. Scoutnos relata su vida cotidiana, y poco a poco nos va narrando como es la sociedad por aquellos tiempos. De principio a fin esta historia es entretenida en todos los sentidos. El padre de Scout-Atticus, también juega un papel primordial en esta historia. El representa ese balance, la justicia, la ética moral.Sin duda, este es un libro clásico de la literatura estadounidense. Trate de tomar esta obra en parte como para mi propio entretenimiento, pero también con un punto de vista académico. No le encontré algún punto negativo. Es una historia maravillosa, con un mensaje claro. Hoy en día, no puedo imaginar como es posible que hace "poco", la sociedad estaba gravemente dividida socialmente! Recomiendo ampliamente este libro, es un clásico! No di las estrellas completas, por que no es mi genero favorito.

The book is great .. the story is fanastic ... it portraits the life in a asmall town in an era when racial segregation was still on .. , Is is candid sometimes, but full of inspiraing behavior by several of the characters in in.. Atticus , my kind of guy , witih a deep sense of ethics , not seen very often in the juiciary systems around the world .. .. A classic , and one can top ti with the movie with the gerat performance of Gregory Peck ..

Excelente descripción de un problema candente, que excede la topografía en la cual se desarrolla la narrativa para trascender en una temática mundial. Casi autobiográfica, la novela es sumamente amena desde la primera página hasta la última, y en numerosos tramos resulta cautivante. Uno quisiera que el libro no concluyera tan pronto. Harper Lee es una aguda escritora, bien merecedora del premio Pulitzer. Lástima que no haya sido más prolífica, para regocijo de los lectores.Habiendo leído la versión en original en inglés, debe agregarse que la traducción es excelente, hecho que no siempre tenemos los lectores el placer de disfrutar.

Les recomiendo a todos los niños y adolescentes leer este libro ya que trata temas tan importantes como la justicia, la valentía, la honestidad y el racismo.

The book is great. I love the Spanish translation, too. I think the audio was very well done. The big issue people are having with THIS FORMAT (audio CD) is that it is advertised as an audio cd, when in fact, it is an MP3 CD. It will not play in most car CD players or in older CD players of any kind. It was very disappointing to discover this, since I wanted to listen to it during my commute to work. I did discover that you can convert the 1 MP3 CD to multiple audio CDs using Windows Media, but I haven't done it yet. I think it's worth it, since I can't find the full CD audiobook anywhere, and I'm probably going to be spending significant time with this book (to help me with my Spanish, I hope!). Please note that most of the 1-star reviews were from people saying the CD was blank. That's because they didn't know they got an MP3 CD instead of an audio CD. And they wouldn't know, unless they read the product SPECIFICATIONS. It is advertised on amazon as an audio CD, not an MP3 CD. So it's not blank, but you need to either convert it or buy a new device to play it on.

Es un clásico, un reflejo de la sociedad con sus prejuicios y racimos, de plena actualidad, qué poco hemos avanzado socialmente, me ha encantado, muy recomendable.

Sto faticando a trovare audiolibri in spagnolo, anche perché vorrei che fossero testi originali in lingua e letti da lettori spagnoli e non sudamericani, e finora non ne ho trovati con queste caratteristiche, a parte alcune edizioni facilitate della Hoepli con CD audio di classici della letteratura spagnola. L'audiolibro di Matar a un ruiseñor è un buon prodotto: ottima la traduzione (ho spesso confrontato con la traduzione italiana Feltrinelli e ho trovato quella spagnola più attenta, più delicata ed anche più aderente all'originale americano) e davvero apprezzabile la lettura-recitazione da parte di Adriana Sanane, nonostante non sia nativa spagnola ma sudamericana. Lo consiglio.
