We like the quality, size, and how easy they are to swallow with fluids. These capsules are made from chicken sternal cartilage and is said to promote health joint function, comfortable movement, and strong connective tissue while maintaining normal moisture in aging skin. It's still early to assess how effective these capsules are in accomplishing these goals. These capsules do not contain yeast, wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, shellfish, nuts, or sesame ingredients, which should be helpful for those who allergic to these foods. These capsules are rather pricey, so it may be worth finding lower-cost alternatives that perform as well/accomplish the same results.

I used to use the other, more expensive collagen type 2. It was the only product that relieved the pain in my hip, which has no cartilage due to a bad accident that twisted the joint. At some point, they changed the name to "joint formula" and lowered the amount of the type 2 collagen. They added a little bit of hyaluronic acid, as if a few mg of that makes up for 400 mg less collagen. And they raised the price, so I can no longer afford it.I was back to wishing I were no longer alive on cold, wet winter days.I was very happy to find this several months ago. It is the same, proven collagen at a better price. I am back to walking in comfort!God bless you, NOW supplements. This product is derived from chicken sternum cartilage, and states exactly that on the supplement facts area of the label.

My knees feel better after using this, but ingesting it does cause some gas which is important for people with irritable digestive systems to be aware of

I am probably the only person that reads ALL Reviews on supplements! LOL!I love this product and will keep buying it. I have had a problem with hair loss due to stress and other physical issues going on. I haven't seen a change in my skin but I will tell you that from the first shampoo a few days after taking this, my hair loss was like 3-5 hairs verses 30-50 hairs! I feel so excited to see all the little hairs growing back now.I have been trying to ween myself off fake nails to save some money. Can't wait to see my natural nails growing back and (hopefully) strong like I've read about. Will update on that!

Now BioCell Collagen II contains 570 mg of collagen type II per serving. You'd need to take 3 servings per day to reach the upper limit of 3000 mg of collagen per day. Even then, you'd only get 1710 mg of collagen type II per serving. That bottle is $24 for 20 servings of 1710 mg of collagen type II. The product cost and servings per container might lead you to believe it is a more affordable option but it actually isn't, because you're not getting 3000 mg of collagen type II, and you're still paying more per 3-serving dose. Anyways, collagen type II is the type that promotes improved recovery for cartilage and ligaments as well as healthy skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints. Therefore, it is much more effective to purchase the Vital Proteins brand versus this one if your primary focus is to support your ligaments and joints.
