Do these mats have a toxic or rubber smell?

I just received these in the mail and they have an extremely strong odor. I was going to use as a foam surface for a playmat for my child and I doubt these are non-toxic based on the smell.

I am opening a virtual reality areana that 6 people can play on at once. can comercial decals/stickers from a print company be put on these matt's?

If the commercial print company prints on foam rubber then I would say yes. I stuck carpet tiles (with adhesive) to these and they work very well.

are these matts really spongy or springy? Can I drop a 150 pound loaded barbell on it without damaging the matts or having the bar bounce up too high?

I would not drop a heavy amount of weights on these mats. If you want to drop heavy weights you need different material. Or at least reinforce the base layer underneath. These mats are not overly spongy or springy. They provide me with a very comfortable cushion to work on, do situps on, and support my entire Smith machine system with accessories.
