AWESOME RADIOS! Crazy inexpensive for what you get.
A slight learning curve, nothing that you can't figure out or look up online. They are great radios with a very good distance (for line-of-sight radios). Apparently, you can use existing repeaters and have a greatly expanded range. We use them on the ranch and love them. It is built tough, has a charging cradle, or can plug into a USB. The are affected by topography and structures blocking the signal, but are still greatly effective com tools, especially as inexpensive as these radios are.

Pretty Clear TX/RX, Definitely need a programming cable though
Works great! Very solid hand feel, Easily lets me jump on the repeater, Had no idsue with the mike or RX speaker. FM radio was a nice bonus too, Just wish it came with a Programming cable.

Awesome GMRS radio for the price
The first thing I want to mention is the bigger antenna it comes with is great for GMRS 1.1 Vswr. And 1.5 Vswr on 144mhz.The radio is well built and love the USB C charge port as I do not like cradles.I also really like how the radio will prevent TX when battery is too low as this prevents damaging the battery by too low voltage> Battery does last a good while even with TX.Number one thing about this GMRS radio is the Spectrum purity of this radio. very clean on my Spectrum Analyzer.

Fun ready-made
I like this radio had a little problem with it, but then got it resolved, and it's working fine. The battery must have been not all the way tight. Wouldn't turn on now. I screwed the battery down and fixed it. And it's ready to go again.

Exceeded my expectations
Im still learning the radio but coming from a UV5R, the GM-21 is very user friendly. I like the feel and the screen. As other have mentioned, the screen is difficult to view in direct sunlight. This GMRS handheld exceeded my expectations.I was able to hit a repeater 48 miles away with the 771 antenna it comes with. Im planning on ordering another one.

Loved at first; Disappointed in the end
Final Update: A friend of mine who has been working with radios far longer than I agrees that this radio is far below standards. Returning to Amazon.Update: Updating after my initial review. I discovered a way to disable the 'voice prompts', plus I've reset my expectations of this radio, given that it's at such a low price. All in all, it's a fair radio, not great, but not bad.Out of the box, this looked like a really good radio for the price. After owning this radio for the past several days though, I've come to realize that in the end it really is a low-cost radio.Pros:* Solid rugged construction - It has a really well built case that feels good in your hands. The controls are all well designed and feel good to operate.* Accessories - The radio comes with two antenna, a charger, a USB charging cable, a belt clip and a ear piece/mic combo.* CHIRP programming ability - I would simply never buy a radio unless I could easily program it via my computer. It makes owning and managing radios so much easier. This radio is easily programmed with standard CHIRP application and cable.* Color screen - A nice touch for a low cost radio.Cons* The biggest con I have with this radio is that I could never get it to transmit more than 2 watts. GMRS radios should transmit at 5 watt. This one, in both low and high power mode, only transmits at 2 watts. This is really disappointing.* Outside, in the sun, the color screen is washed out to the point where it's hard to use the radio.I'm still working on deciding if I'll return it to Amazon or not. For such a low cost, it makes it easier to consider keeping it, but there's no way I'll be using it as a 'favorite' radio.
