More than just a book about running
This has been an absolute pleasure to read. I am the type of person who will take as much as I feel necessary from a book, then will happily put it down and move onto the next. With FINDING ULTRA, I read every word from start to finish with ease and captivation. I was excited to return to it, and disappointed that it would be so late and I would have to go to sleep! The sort of book you think about when you're not reading it.If you are looking for something that will challenge your world views, inspire and motivate you to be better, this would be a great option. The book is by no means just about running, as the title or cover may suggest. Roll started his relationship with sport and fitness as a competitive swimmer with no running ability whatsoever. This autobiographical account of his journey to finding Triathlon and ultra distance racing gives a well rounded account of his motivations and leaves you feeling like you could do it, or at least improve vastly.Just buy the book and read it. It's a nicely written, easy read that will have you recommending it like I and so many others do.

A great and brave guy shares his life experience.
I first heard of Rich Roll as he appeared on a podcast. His delivery was unusual, thoughtful and had no real hype, somewhat of a contrast with the usual self-promoting styles within the space. His story combined endurance sport, diet and lifestyle. His ability to be articulate and come across as a man who was looking to simply pursue a life he chose made me want to purchase and read his book.I have read his book and I now follow his podcast. He is inspired and inspiring. His writing is simple yet conveys his life and his thoughts in such a communicative manner that it would seem his story is being shared intimately across a dinner table. His writing is as articulate as his speech, whether it is because he is naturally reflexive or due to his career path, either way he choses his words and has learned to balance them with peppered silence. He is undoubtedly a lighthouse for all willing to attempt either a new diet, new health style or seek endurance sports. He has with his wife shared how to build a healthy family around a healthy lifestyle. His podcast continues to share his mission by creating awareness and sharing the paths of many inspiring people.

Great read
Great book, really had me hooked and I don’t usually get the ‘can’t put it down’ bug when it comes to reading.A bit deep at the end but overall a good read especially if you are following a whole foods plant based.I can appreciate it will be life saving for those that need to improve their health and their outlook on life.

What a fascinating story
As an age group ironman triathlete, who has written my own book "ironman: jam, gels and isotonic". I was curious about this book because the author has done an ultra. He immediately got kudos for this but this became only a part of the story. It turns out he was bullied, became a schoolboy champion swimmer, alcoholic and lawyer. He speaks candidly about his life's journey, which is refreshing. I love how he described the pain he was in when he was doing back to back ironman in Hawaii. I was literally laughing out loud, as I can relate to that, including verbally abusing the support team. I would love to meet Rich Roll one day, as he is at true inspiration and champion athlete !!

Inspiring read
A very interesting and inspiring read, especially for anyone heading to middle age. He is a little sanctimonious about his diet and making anyone who doesn’t live off plants feel like a sinner, but ignore that part and his obsession with green drinks and it’s a good story.
