Ambient WeatherTX-3107 Floating Pool and Spa Thermometer for WS-7078, WS-7079, WS-8482, WS-8478 Weather Stations

I wanted to monitor the temperature of my lake and I already owned a -8478 wifi station, so I bought this. It has a plastic loop on it which I attached to a line and the dock. Its been working all spring and into the summer without an issue. Decent purchase and seems to work good. Not sure battery life yet, but its been 3-4 months and still working fine

The best part of this thermometer is that you can track it remotely through the Internet after you enable your FREE ambientweather.net account. Also once you do that you can create triggers like email alerts and integrate it with IFTT. I use two of them. One for the pool, and one for the hot tub.I have used lots of Ambient weather stuff. When given a choice, I would try their stuff first even if a bit more expensive. I have used their stuff for decades. It might be easier/cheaper to order directly from AmbientWeather.com. Just to be clear ambientweather.com and ambientweather.net are the same company. One is for sales, and the other is for dataThe Bad part of these is they only last so long 1-2 years. The hot tub ones fail sooner because they are hotter (above the recommended temp) and submerged more. I take good care, and keep the seals greased, but eventually water gets in and it dies. I always have a spare.

The product seems to be well built until you start using it. It leaks and water droplets accumulate inside. I ordered two as the first one want out within a couple of months. I erroneously attributed it to be me not tightening it well. The second one was far worse as it just stopped working within 2 weeks. I changed batteries multiple times and could not revive it. I ended up returning it as defective however I did lose the money for the first one. These made in China stuff on Amazon by and large suck big time as multiple different products proved that. I typically try to avoid to buy anything from Amazon that are made in China similar to Facebook. Though Facebook is the worst when it comes to that.

Perfect for adding pool temperature readings to your existing Ambient system. Setup is a snap, quality is good, and the range is much better than other systems I have used.

I bought this to replace the one that came with a set but failed after 2 years when water got into it. You have to change the batteries and I was careful with the seals but the second time it died. I found water inside and it couldn't be resurrected. I will probably seal it up with RTV sealant between battery changes AND tie it to the ladder to minimize kids tossing it around in the pool.

I buy these for both my home pool and pool at the vacation rental. The base station and thermometers work well - and have connectivity to the internet (if you buy the WiFi enabled base station) allowing you to check the pool temp remotely. I really like this product - I just wish it would last longer than two years. My vacation rental thermometer stays connected well to the base station, until the batteries diminish from full power. This means I am replacing batteries monthly to ensure it remains connected to my base station. I do recommend these - just make sure they stay dry inside and are line of sight with your base station for best results.

Leaks. Battery life is about 20 seconds. The compartment will be flooded with water anyway, even if it wasn't a battery hog. Doesnt have a worth while o-ring to seal. fell apart. sank. terrible app. terrible way of connecting. doesn't auto connect at all. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY seriously.
